Why Is USA So Much Interested In Ukraine

The declaration of independence by Crimea has come as a shock to USA. Its wider aims to penetrate the Russian zone of influence has taken a setback. Reason is simple the proposal of European Union to Ukraine which was earlier rejected by the then President of Ukraine did not come in good taste to EU and USA because this was a clever attempt by EU with unspoken support of USA to expand its influence in the area located near Russia in and defeat the Eurasia Union dream of Putin which had wider aim to establish an Union in Europe-Asia by which Russia could gain its pre 1991 USSR status as world power in order to equalize the US influence in the world politics .
The internal economic woes of Ukraine were quite conducive to EU to attract the youth of the country. In succeeded quite much as the protests that ensued were a fertile ground for USA to enter in the complex milieu emerging in the Ukraine. Visit of US Senators and political and official dignitaries are testimony to it.
A realist analysis suggests that EU proposal was a first stage proposal for trade association, it was natural that in due course there were possibilities that EU would have initiated proposal to offer Ukraine to become member of European Union.
The 28 member EU is clear embodiment of capitalist-liberal democracy ideology which signifies as well the theoretical postulates of End of History and End of ideology. EU and USA both are keen to expand it to maximum possible level in Europe and the world.
EU has its expansion agenda. USA has its larger political interests i.e. to contain Russia in its operation and negate its efforts to reemerge as the power which could equal it.
The involvement of NATO can also not be discounted.NATO is military arm of USA. It serves US interests at the global level. US has two military structures which are hierarchy placed, first is its own military which is highly advanced and moderised with no parallel in the world. Second is NATO which was established during cold war age in 1949 but was not dissolved after the end of cold war , though Warsaw pact its counter response by the communist states was dissolved after dissolution of USSR and end of cold war.
NATO is military association of 28 states with immense military power. This is the higher tier of US military power which is used at the global level by US. Its use in Afghanistan by USA in Afghanistan is well evidenced. Use of NATO in war on terror was justified . Its likely use in Ukraine is likely to take place as US is much worried due to failure of its larger interests in the region. NATO in near future may move not only to include Ukraine as its member but also Georgia and other countries in the region with sole objective of encircling Russia. Hence developments in Ukraine and Crimea are of specific importance to USA,EU and NATO. There is well thought programme of USA, EU offer is just a starter. USA-EU-NATO may in due course move to attract Russian population which too is under economic pressure and may look for attractive and green pastures in European Union.
In post cold war age, two decades after, world witness a case where countries can be conquered by showing the economic benefits. The role of EU is example of it where military power is not required , but the economic dividends are thrown as new potent attractants, which are patronized by US and NATO.
The message is clear that US is using the EU and NATO both to serve its larger interests in the Russian region. This is the one man police power status of USA in the world where it wants none else to decide the course in independent manner, it allows only those which chart the path which conform to its stated policy and long term goals.
The behavior of USA during the Ukraine crisis suggests that world may move in new direction where the cold war like condition may emerge. The US role in Syria was counterbalanced by Russia and China but in Ukraine US and Russia both have come in direct confrontation. The dynamics of global politics is highly unfixed as the time progresses, it will appear that many of the President Obama’s decisions have not proved beneficial to the world. The Ukraine is likely to develop in the same direction. President Obama perhaps forgets that world expects from him different . His leadership skills are on test. He must know that Ukraine issue is not like Syria or Libya. It is an issue which involves a wider area due to involvement of Russian interests in explicit and genuine manner. Hence instead of promoting certain other interests with the help of EU and NATO, it must promote the genuine interests which may prove useful for the civilization.
