Know Your History: Beware Democrat Heroes

On October 26, I attended an Occupy Wall Street (OWS) event called “Enemies of the State: Solidarity for Bradley”—in support of whistleblowers in general but Julian Assange and Bradley Manning, in particular.
One of the speakers—while calling for less secrecy and more transparency from the U.S. government—opted to quote John F. Kennedy and Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
WTF?
Yep, words from war criminals in the name of supporting those who expose war crimes. Welcome to 2012 America, the land of denial.
I’ve always felt that when you accept an invite to speak in public, you also accept a fair amount of responsibility for your words. So, with less than two weeks to go before a presidential election, it is beyond irresponsible for someone speaking at an OWS event to present the illusion—the blatant lie—that the Democratic Party is anything but an equal partner in the ever-growing catalogue of U.S. war crimes and the covering up of such abhorrent behavior.
Of course, I encourage you all to do your own research and learn the truth about alleged liberal saints like FDR, Carter, Clinton, etc. For now, however, I’ll offer a brief sampling about the two war criminals reverently quoted at the OWS event (and so often elsewhere).
JFK
The Cuba Project, a.k.a. "Operation Mongoose," was initiated by the Kennedy administration in January 1962 with the stated U.S. objective of helping the Cubans “overthrow the Communist regime from within Cuba and institute a new government with which the United States can live in peace."
"What happened is a level of international terrorism that as far as I know has no counterpart, apart from direct aggression," explains Noam Chomsky. "It’s included attacking civilian installations, bombing hotels, sinking fishing vessels, destroying petrochemical installations, poisoning crops and livestock, on quite a significant scale, assassination attempts, actual murders, bombing airplanes, bombing of Cuban missions abroad, etc. It’s a massive terrorist attack."
U.S. aggression toward Cuba since 1959 denied the world a chance to witness what that revolution may have become. "The world will never know what kind of society Cuba could have produced if left alone," laments historian William Blum.
Does this sound even remotely connected to something OWS would/should support?

To begin the deconstruction of a Democrat even the New York Post called “a gentle genius,” I’ll begin with a geography question: What nation has the largest Muslim population? Nope, it’s not Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, or Iraq—it’s Indonesia.
While more than 90 percent Islamic, this Asian dictatorship has conveniently avoided America’s notorious anti-Muslim bent by holding claim to the South Pacific’s largest supply of oil and the world’s most abundant reserve of natural gas. Therefore, while Palestinian Muslims are labeled terrorists for having the audacity to revolt against more than 60 years of Israeli repression, Indonesian Muslims can get away with murder. Literally.
Some more geography: East Timor is an island nation, a former Portuguese colony just above Australia, that has been the target of a relentless and murderous assault by Indonesia since December 7, 1975—an assault made possible through the sale of U. S. arms to its loyal client-state, the silent complicity of the American press, and Pat Moynihan’s skill at keeping the UN uninvolved.
Over one-third of the East Timorese population (more than 200,000 humans) lost their lives due to war-related starvation, disease, massacres, or atrocities. Proportionally, the depth of this slaughter was on par with the Holocaust.
Here’s where the "gentle genius" fits in:
After having served as an advisor to Richard Nixon (an excellent venue for honing skills of genocide), Moynihan was appointed U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations under President Ford. It was during this time that the U.S.-backed Indonesian invasion of East Timor took place. Taking orders from Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, Moynihan bragged to the Australian ambassador to the UN that he was "under instructions from Kissinger personally not to involve himself in discussions on Timor with Indonesians."
In his book, A Dangerous Place, Senator Pat further detailed his role in the East Timorese genocide: "The United States wished things to turn out as they did, and worked to bring this about. The Department of State desired that the United Nations prove utterly ineffective in whatever measures it undertook. This task was given to me, and I carried it forward with no inconsiderable success."
Mic Check: If Moynihan were alive today, we’d be occupying on his fuckin’ doorstep.
