President Hollande And French Invasion Of Privacy Versus French Invasion Of 80 Countries Since 800 AD

By Dr Gideon Polya

15 January, 2014
Countercurrents.org

La belle France has invaded 80 countries since 800AD, testament to an entrenched culture of French hubris,  French imperialism and French state terrorism. Many in France are  currently angered over the “invasion of privacy” implicit in the titillating allegation of a love triangle  involving the French President François Hollande but ignore or excuse the continuing, horrendous record of French invasions of other countries, French state terrorism and war crimes such as those for which Nazi German generals were hanged after 1945. Indeed the ongoing war criminal French invasion of other countries in the 21st century is regarded by many in the Orwellian, Zionist-perverted  US Alliance Murdochracies, Lobbyocracies and Corporatocracies as “peace keeping” or “responsibility  to protect” (”R2P”) i.e. these egregious war crimes are not considered to be crimes at all but are regarded as noble humanitarian endeavours.

This Mainstream media whitewashing of French war crimes reminds one of the words of  great French playwright   Molière (Jean-Baptiste Poquelin) in “Tartuffe ou L'Imposteur” (“Tartuffe or the Hypocrite”): “Le scandale du monde est ce que fait l'offence, Et ce n'est pas pécher que pécher en silence (It is public scandal that constitutes offence, and to sin in secret is not to sin at all).” [1].

Australian ABC News has reported the alleged love triangle with pictures of the President and his currently alleged 2 sexual partners:  “On Friday [10 January 2014] , French magazine Closer published a story detailing what it said were regular trysts between the president and actress Julie Gayet. Now it has been revealed Mr Hollande 's official partner, ex-journalist Valerie Trierweiler, was admitted to hospital on the same day. Mr Hollande left his fellow Socialist politician Ségolène Royal, the mother of his four children, for Ms Trierweiler, a divorced mother of three, before being elected president. Ms Trierweiler's office has said simply she is in the hospital for rest and some tests… While he has condemned what he calls an invasion of privacy, he has not denied the accuracy of the reports.” [2].

The Guardian reports: ” François Hollande's official partner, Valérie Trierweiler, is to remain in hospital "for an indeterminate time" until doctors decide she has recovered from the shock of discovering his alleged infidelity… Hollande is expected to divert attempts to hijack Tuesday's press conference with questions about the scandal by making a brief statement referring to it, then refusing to comment further, arguing that the French are more interested in serious issues including the economy and employment. [Center-Right newspaper] Le Figaro said it was essential for Hollande to address public spending, fiscal reform, schemes to reduce unemployment and the conflict in the Central African Republic , where France has 1,600 troops.” [3].

In the interests of balanced reportage.  I have summarized below a list of significant French invasions of other countries back to the time of Charlemagne, ruler of the Holy Roman Empire (800-814),   who forcibly converted the Saxons to Christianity (“responsibility to protect” their immortal; souls?). The territories  invaded are listed in terms of the current political entity (e.g. France did not invade the United States but participated in the genocidal conquest from the Indigenous Indians in the North American territory now occupied by the United States). Further, only significant French invasions are considered, ignoring small-scale French piracy and dirty-tricks such as the murderous French Intelligence bombing of the Greenpeace ship the Rainbow Warrior in New Zealand ). The data is taken from Gideon Polya, “Body Count. Avoidable global mortality since 1950”, that includes an avoidable mortality-related history of every country since Neolithic times and is now available for free perusal on the web [4]. Note that multiple dates for particular countries are variously indicative of protectorate establishment, invasion, major raids with tiny   occupations (as in some parts of slavery in Africa and the Hundred Years War with England), establishment of trading forts and slavery forts, unilateral acquisition (e.g. the 1916 Anglo-French Sykes-Picot Agreement that divided up the Arab World between the UK and France), re-establishment of French rule, or neo-colonial re-invasion.

East Asia – China (1856), Korea (1950).

Pacific -  French Polynesia (1840), New Caledonia (1853), Vanuatu (19th century).

In this context,  the post-Revolution French national motto “Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité” (" Liberty , equality, fraternity” ) evidently means that everyone in the world should be equally free to have French “civilization” fraternally imposed on them.

These French invasions cost millions of lives from violence or from violently-imposed deprivation. Since 1950 it has been possible using United Nations Population Division demographic data to make precise estimates for each country of avoidable mortality from deprivation (avoidable deaths, excess mortality, excess deaths, deaths that should not have happened), this being defined as the difference between the actual deaths in a country in a given period and deaths expected for a peaceful, decently-governed country with the same demographics.

This summary data provided below is of 1950-2005 excess mortality/ 2005 population (both in millions, m) and expressed as a percentage (%); this ratio is given for France, for each country occupied by France in the post-1945 era, and as a total for all the countries subject to occupation by France since 1945 . The asterisk (*) below indicates a major occupation by more than one country in the post-WW2 era. Between 1950 and 2005, 142 million people died avoidably from deprivation in countries occupied by France in the post-1945 era [5].

France [3.275m/60.711m = 5.4%] - Algeria [7.167m/32.877m = 21.8%], Benin [3.267m/7.103m = 46.0%], Burkina Faso [6.810m/13.798m = 49.4%], Cambodia* [5.852m/14.825m = 39.5%], Cameroon* [6.669m/16.564m = 40.3%], Central African Republic [2.274m/3.962m =57.4%], Chad [5.085m/9.117m = 55.8%], Comoros [0.204m/0.812m =25.1%], Congo (Brazzaville) [1.085m/3.921m = 27.7%], Côte d'Ivoire [6.953m/17.165m = 40.5%], Djibouti [0.265m/0.721m = 36.8%], Egypt* [19.818m/74.878m = 26.5%], French Guiana [0.010m/0.187m = 5.3%], French Polynesia [0.018m/0.252m = 7.1%], Gabon [0.504m/1.375m = 36.7%], Guadeloupe [0.025m/0.446m = 5.6%], Guinea [5.185m/8.788m = 59.0%], Haiti* [4.089m/8.549m = 47.9%], Laos* [2.653m/5.918m = 44.8%], Madagascar [7.098m/18.409m = 38.6%], Mali [6.808m/13.829m = 49.2%], Martinique [0.022m/0.397m = 5.5%], Mauritania [1.294m/3.069m = 42.2%], Mauritius [0.064m/1.244m = 5.18], Morocco* [8.202m/31.564m = 26.0%], New Caledonia [0.017m/0.237m = 7.2%], Niger [6.558m/12.873m = 50.9%], Réunion [0.047m/0.777m = 6.0%], Senegal [4.457m/9.393m = 47.5%], Syria* [2.198m/18.650m = 11.8%], Togo [1.950m/5.129m = 38.0%], Tunisia [1.582m/10.042m =15.8%], Vanuatu* [0.037m/0.222m = 16.7%], Vietnam* [24.015m/83.585m = 28.7%], total = 142.291m/430.678m = 33.0% [5].

By way of comparison, avoidable deaths in millions (m) in  the period 1950-2005 were as follows for countries occupied in the post-1945 era by the following countries: Australia (2.2m), Belgium (36.0m), Ethiopia (1.8m), France 142.3m), Indonesia (0.7 m), Iraq (0.1 m), Apartheid Israel (23.9m),  Netherlands (71.6m), New Zealand (0.04m), Pakistan (51.2m), Portugal (23.5m), Russia (37.1m), South Africa (0.7m), Spain (8.6m), Turkey (0.05m), UK (727.4m), US (82.2m) [5]. France ranks second after the UK for 1950-2005 avoidable deaths in countries variously occupied in the post-war era and the US ranks third [5].

Similarly, France ranks second after Britain in the number of countries  invaded. Thus la belle France has “only” invaded 80 countries since the advent of Charlemagne (800AD) whereas Britain has invaded 171 out of the present 193 countries  in the world [6-8].  The United States comes third after France , having invaded “only” 70 countries since 1776 [9]. UK-, France- and US-backed Apartheid Israel in its short existence as an anti-Arab anti-Semitic, genocidal rogue state has invaded 12 countries whereas  Iran, the bête noire (black beast) of the racist, pro-Zionist and  mendacious West,  has not invaded any country for centuries.

The consequences of French state terrorism, UK state terrorism , US state terrorism and French, UK and US (FUKUS) imperialism  for those conquered or subject to  Western hegemony have been dire as shown by the avoidable mortality  statistics given  above. From a global perspective, 1950-2005 avoidable deaths from deprivation have totalled  1.3 billion  (for the World), 1.2 million (for the Third  World) and 0.6 billion (for the Muslim World),  these estimates being consonant with estimates of 1950-2005 under-5 infant deaths  totalling 0.88 billion (the World), 0.85 billion (the Third World ) and 0.4 billion (the Muslim World ) [6]. Each year 18 million people die avoidably from deprivation  in the Developing  World (minus China ) on Spaceship Earth with the French, UK and US (FUKUS) Coalition dominating the flight deck.

However this carnage will inevitably increase with a worsening  climate  emergency  (climate crisis, climate disaster, climate catastrophe). Thus, noting that the world population is expected to reach 9.5 billion by 2050 (UN Population Division), estimates by top UK climate scientists  that only 0.5 billion will survive unaddressed climate change translate to a climate genocide involving deaths of 10 billion people this century, this including roughly twice the present population of particular mainly non-European groups, specifically 6 billion under-5 year old infants, 3 billion Muslims in a terminal Muslim Holocaust, 2 billion Indians, 1.3 billion non-Arab Africans, 0.5 billion Bengalis, 0.3 billion Pakistanis and 0.3 billion Bangladeshis [10, 11]. The French, UK and US (FUKUS) Coalition makes a major contribution to Biosphere- and Humanity-threatening greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution - “annual per capita greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution” in units of “tonnes CO 2 -equivalent per person per year” (2005-2008 data) is 0.9 (Bangladesh), 0.9 (Pakistan), 2.2 (India), less than 3 (many African and Island countries), 3.2 (the Developing World), 5.5 (China), 6.7 (the World), 9 (France), 11 (UK), 11 (Europe), 16 (the Developed World), 24 (the US) and 25 (Australia; or 74 in 2010 if Australia's huge Exported CO 2 pollution is included) [10-12]. The French, UK and US (FUKUS) Coalition makes a major contribution to a worsening Biofuel Genocide through legislatively mandated use food for fuel in the EU, UK and US [13].

Of course, imperialist  adventures can have both positive and negative impacts on the imperialist countries. Thus since its defeat by the Indigenous Algerians and by Vietnamese at Dien Bien Phu , the French adventures have been high  technology exercises against essentially defenceless nations i.e. imperialism, war crimes, state terrorism  and mass murder on the cheap.  Thus sanction against Iraq (1990-2003) cost France little but were associated with 1.7 million Iraqi avoidable deaths from deprivation and 1.2 million Iraqi under-5 infant deaths, 90% avoidable and due to US Alliance war crimes [14]. Before the French, UK and US (FUKUS) Coalition high technology air attack on defenceless Libya perhaps 1,000 Libyans had died but the Western invasion resulted in  100,000 violent deaths, 1 million refugees and national devastation [15] .

The Zionist-promoted, post-9-11 War on Terror has cost 10 million Muslim lives but has been associated with a longterm accrual cost of $6 trillion to Americans, with this huge fiscal perversion  in turn being linked to 16 million preventable American deaths since 2001 [16, 17]. The longterm, accrual cost to Americans of Apartheid Israel and the associated post-1990 War on Muslims has been estimated at $40 trillion [18]. France and the UK ,  while benefiting from this global imperialism with relatively small military inputs and having good public health systems, have had much smaller downside costs, notably from drug deaths.  Thus there have been about 1 million global opiate drug-related deaths linked to US restoration of the  Taliban–destroyed Afghan opium industry from 6% of world market share in 2001 to 93% in 2007, the breakdown being 200,000 Americans, 50,000 Iranians,  18,000 British, 10,000 Canadians, 8,000 Germans, 4,000 Australians and 400 French [19]. In contrast, in US-occupied Afghanistan Afghan avoidable deaths from war-imposed deprivation total 4.2 million, violent deaths may total 1.3 million and under-5 infant deaths total 3.0 million, 90% avoidable and due to US Alliance and French war crimes in gross violation of the Geneva Convention [19].

The benefits to the French, UK and US (FUKUS) Coalition from global imperialism is revealed by the list of top countries for  per capita wealth.  Thus the average  wealth per adult (US$) is $513,000  for the Swiss,  $403,000 ( Australia ), $380,000 ( Norway ), and $315,000 ( Luxembourg ) as compared to about  $275,000 for the US , Sweden , France , Singapore , Belgium and Denmark . In contrast, the median  wealth per adult (i.e. the value of wealth per adult separating the lower half from the upper half) is $220,000 (Australia), $183,000 (Luxembourg),  about $130,000  (for Belgium, France, Italy, UK and Japan), about $95,000 (for Switzerland, Finland and Norway) and an extraordinarily  low $45,000 for the US (this reflecting vastly greater  disparities in wealth in the US where 15% of Americans and over 27% of African-Americans   live in poverty) [20].

Conclusions.

French invasion of privacy in relation to President Hollande's alleged sexual escapades is a French farce in stark contrast to the horrendous realities of French nuclear terrorism, French state terrorism, French invasion of  80 countries since 800AD and that between 1950 and 2005, 1.2 billion people died avoidably from deprivation in  the Third World,  and that of these 142 million people died avoidably from deprivation in countries occupied by France in the post-1945 era. Vastly more significant than President Hollande's private sex life is the global-reach Western  spying and subversion  revealed by Julian  Assange and Edward Snowden. Indeed France has countered  the all-pervasive US ECHELON global spying system with its so-called “Frenchelon” signals intelligence system [21].

One notes that outstanding Jewish American scholar Professor Jared Diamond in his best-selling book "Collapse” (Prologue, p10, Penguin edition) enunciated the "moral principle, namely that it is morally wrong for one people to dispossess, subjugate, or exterminate another people" [22]. For a brilliant analysis of genocidal French and European  colonialism up to the Nazi German Lebensraum invasion of Eastern Europe read Sven Lindqvist's book “Exterminate all the Brutes” [23].

What can decent French people do, trapped  between the extreme right and the right-wing, warmongering, self-described  “socialists” like socialism-lite but sexually very active, warmongering, serial  invader  Hollande?  Decent French people and indeed all of Humanity should (a) inform everyone they can about the above realities that are  hidden by lying French and FUKUS Mainstream media, (b)  vote for pro-peace candidates such as the   Greens and genuine socialists and (c) urge and apply Boycotts, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) where possible against all those people, politicians, parties,  countries, companies, and corporations (notably French and FUKUS fossil fuel companies [24]) involved in the ongoing Muslim Genocide (notably the ongoing Palestinian Genocide [15, 25, 26] ) and the worsening Climate Genocide that is set to devastate Humanity and the Biosphere [10-13].
