Welcome Back “Double Standards”, TV’s Best

By Thomas C. Mountain

Award winning producer Afshin Rattansi has returned to the airwaves
with his cutting edge poli-tricks and comedy program “Double
Standards” after a three month hiatus from Press TV.

Afshin is one of the young lions of alternative reality, resistance
media, genuinely speaking truth to power. “Double Standards” as a
weekly television program is a labor of love, literally. Run on a
shoestring budget, one can only wonder at the dedicated crew that
keeps this ship afloat every week, evolving over the past two years
into a political comedy news program that puts the likes of Stewart
and Colbert to shame.

With everything from “interviews” with world leaders where Afshin asks
the questions and sound bites from past speeches provide the “answers”
to London’s Soho club comedian David Mulholland’s “cousin” red neck
Bubba Bumblebush (from the town of Black Mud over yonder by Dear
Lick?) interviewing those walking the streets of downtown London,
“Double Standards” moves at almost too fast a pace and leaves one
racing to catch on to the jokes and political sarcasm before the next
volley.

With no budget for high powered guests it turned out for the best that
“Double Standards” hiatus resumed minus its interview segment and is
now a non stop political comedic slug fest, ideal for today's “twitter
culture”, trying to educate in 140 symbols or less?

With Tehran based Press TV censored from the airwaves of Europe those
of us in Africa and west Asia can still see it live via Nilesat and
Arabsat television channels but for those of you in the United Snakes
and Europe you have to check it out at DoubleStandardsTV.com.

As is all to often the case in the penurious lives of those who labor
for love, Afshin and posse may have to move on to greener pastures,
where, fingers crossed, they may still be able to make us laugh while
dissecting deadly serious subjects. Until then don't forget to check
out TV’s best, Double Standards every week.
