Sec. of State Hilary insensitive and insulting remarks in her host’s face reminded the gentle Vietnamese of ancient Buddhist culture that young adolescent America, bloated into world empire, is not “on the path to becoming” civilized nation, or a kind nation, a nation capable of some repentance. Long live what there was of American solidarity with the Vietnamese!
Madam Embarrassing Secretary Clinton’s insensitive and insulting remarks upon her visit to the home of the Vietnamese nation, a thousand year old ancient Buddhist culture, bears review considering the post she occupies in the government of the United States, the nation that crucified the Vietnamese people with thirty years of armed occupation, fifteen of which saw daily bombings, napalming, poison chemicals spraying taking the lives of millions of its innocent citizens.

New York Times, 7/22/10, In Hanoi, Clinton Criticizes Vietnam on Rights by Mark Lander,
HANOI, Vietnam — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton expressed concern on Thursday about what she called the Vietnamese government’s intolerance of dissent,
“Vietnam, ... is on the path to becoming a great nation ...” Mrs. Clinton said in her opening statement at a news conference, as Mr. Khiem stood stone-faced next to her.
Mr. Khiem replied that human rights were rooted in unique cultural and historical circumstances. He cited what he claimed was an observation by President Obama that countries be allowed to choose their own path and that human rights not be imposed from outside. ...
“We have been working with Vietnam for abut nine years to try to remedy the effects of Agent Orange,” (Agent Orange, was chemical the American military used as a defoliant during the Vietnam War.”
Then came the now usual giggling going on about her personal life, as if her daughter’s wedding was of consummate interest of people many of whose mothers and daughters were murdered before they could have had any weddings or wedding celebrations.
“Noting that she is juggling wedding-planning duties with a grueling week-long trip to Pakistan, Afghanistan, South Korea, and Vietnam, Mrs. Clinton joked that one might question her common sense.”
Those readers who were always on the side of the Vietnamese fighting the second Holocaust that was the American invasion and occupation of their land, will appreciate Mrs. Clinton giving the Vietnamese opportunity to see that the United State of America is still just as ignorant and mortally dangerous a monster today, today as it was when it gave up killing and torturing them thirty-five years ago
Sec. of State Clinton reminded Vietnamese that young adolescent America, bloated into world empire, is not is “on the path to becoming” civilized nation, a kind nation, and certainly a [truly] “great nation” - not by a long shot. And that Vietnamese like the rest of the people on the planet just have to put up with these racist capitalist monsters for now. Their Buddhist culture doesn’t allow for them to tell that to a guest to her face.
(And they remember their history of America, supporting colonialism, shipping back in the brutal French Colonial Army to reconquer it’s colony, which it had given over to the Japanese during WW. II.)
Long live what there was of American solidarity with the Vietnamese fighting agaisnt invasions and occupation!
