Window

A Poem By K.P. Sasi

31 May, 2016
Countercurrents.org

One day
I will open the windows of my dreams
to watch men and women
young and old
hugging and kissing
singing and dancing
without the poison of hatred
and without the guilt
of their silence.

One day
I will open the windows of my dreams
to watch the undammed rivers flowing
from the lush green hills to the ocean
where the nets of fishers are filled
to stop their children from crying.

One day
I will open the windows of my dreams
to watch the birds build their nests
and sit on the eggs that do not crack
and feed the beaks of their babies
with worms un-dipped in chemicals
and poisons sprayed by the humans.

One day
I will open the windows of my dreams
to watch people smile at each other
without the language of power and money
in the paradise on the debris
of the shattered structures
that they built for centuries
to control the minds and bodies
of those whom they considered weak.

One day
I will open the windows of my dreams
to hear the thunder of the cracking chains
and watch the empty jails and lunatic asylums
police men without sticks and boots
soldiers without guns and bombs
teachers who learn and doctors who share
from the breath of the wind that unites us.

One day
I will open the windows of my dreams
to watch people who do not abuse
the growing child in a mother’s womb
for having chosen an unknown womb
to spit upon the world of consciousness
that blocks the child’s mind to see truth from lies
to demand justice from all Gods
and to be responsible for their creation.

One day
I will open the windows of my dreams
To live in a world where there is no need
to write these words of troubled minds
or even to open the windows of my dreams.
