Floods in Pakistan

Dear Friends:

Unusual rainstorms in Pakistan have inundated one-fifth of the country with water. Nearly 1,500 individuals have been killed. Twenty million have been rendered homeless. Most survivors are still without any shelter and other basic necessities. Many are at serious risk of developing malnutrition and water-borne diseases.

More rains and new flooding continue to threaten more areas including some of those where flood victims had been sheltered.

If you are not convinced, please watch pictures at http://www.google.com/images?q=floods+in+pakistan+2010&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=SldwTJn9GIL6swP6pbmPCw&sa=X&oi
