Scrap The POSCO Project - Sign The Petition

25 October, 2010

Dear Friends,

Greetings from POSCO Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS)!

As you know that three out of four members of the the Committee set up
by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, GoI to investigate into the
status of implementation of Forest Rights Act (FRA), 2006, compliance
of environment laws, CRZ rules etc by the POSCO India Pvt., have found
grave violation of  Forest Rights  Law, Environment laws and other
laws on coastal regulation and water managerment etc. They also have
found out severe human rights vioaltion by the administration and the
company in proposed area.

They have recommended to withdraw all the permissions granted by the
central and state governments to the project.

Earlier Saxena Committee had also opined that the land acquision is
illegal as it violated the Forest Rights Act, 2006.

It is high time that the project should be scrapped altogether.

Therefore I, on behalf of PPSS, urge to  all like minded people to
oppose the project tooth and nail and demand before the Prime Minister
of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh and the Chief Minister of Orissa, Mr
Naveen Patnaik to scrap the project by signing the online petition
given below. (Click the web link provided below and sign)

I also request you to circulate this petition widely.

Sincerely,

Prasant Paikray
