PURPOSE:
*PRO-LIFE is a FALSE CLAIM: This essay is about the False claim humans make in stating that they are: Pro-Life. Homo Sapiens are Not Pro-Life, they are Pro-Life Killers. My mission statement is to break the Code of silence that humans hide behind: Humans pretend that they are the Superior species -- when the truth is that Humans are a Violent species – Humans are violent to other humans, to animals & the Earth. We say we are Pro-Life: As we eat a hamburger, we swear at a motorist, we slap our children, we throw a pop bottle out the window and we grab our guns & go hunting to shoot a deer – Where is the logic in this kind of Pro-Life thinking? Humans kill & they kill & they kill – whether it be physical killing of a living being, killing of an ecosystem or spiritual killing.
APOLOGY for HUMAN CRIMES: I offer a Mea culpa to the all the victims of Homo Sapien Cruelty; I offer a Mea culpa (2) to all human victims, to animals & the Earth. This essay is Not about prosecuting or condemning Homo Sapiens; This paper Is about taking a stand against the Intellectual dishonesty, the Cognitive dissonance, (3) the turning of a blind eye to the truth, Denial & the Willful ignorance (4) with which the human race falsely advertises itself as Pro-Life. Some might argue that Homo Sapiens are Delusional with regard to killing: i.e. That humans have fixed beliefs that killing is okay – derived from self-deception, erroneous beliefs held in the face of evidence to the contrary & mistaken/unfounded opinions. (5) Also, Homo Sapiens justify their killing with many reasons including: God & religion, killing for war, Homo Sapiens believe killing animals is socially acceptable, they strip mine for more cell phones, they kill forests for toilet paper, etc.. Humans kill with: Fists, guns, knives, bombs, swear words & they kill by human reproduction – greedily hoarding resources & pushing out other species to extinction.
EGO & SEPARATION from NATURE: What motivates this human killing & destruction?; The answer is: the human Ego & the human claim of Superiority over other animal & plant species & the Earth. This human separation, this disconnection, this alienation – From other humans, animals, the trees & the Earth is the cause of the current collapse of civilization & the destruction of the Earth. Baker states: “Unless humans release their suicidal romance with … deadly myths (e.g. Myth #1: The human species is distinct from the natural system & does not have to live by it’s laws) & re-connect to the earth, we can expect two potential scenarios to eventually play out: One. The human-made system will collapse … Two: “Gaia’s self-defense mechanisms … will (react) … It will not be pleasant”. (6) Overall, humans fail to see the connection between human overpopulation, bulldozers, habitat destruction, animal killing & societal collapse.
SHAMELESS ACTS OF DESTRUCTION: Not only do humans kill, Homo Sapiens also: Torture, enslave, encage, rape, exploit, abuse, pollute, bomb, shoot Depleted Uranium bullets, irresponsibly deal with nuclear waste, deforest the Earth, destroy topsoil, spray pesticides, mine, destroy the ozone layer, acidify the oceans, ocean trawl, etc.. Sadly, humans are Shameless for many of these criminal acts against other living beings & the Earth.
CONCLUSION: In Conclusion, Humans are Not Pro-Life; Homo Sapiens are Pro-Death.
*THE TRUE MEAINING of PRO-LIFE: The true meaning of “Pro-Life” is: A reverence for Animal life, the trees, the Earth’s air & land & water – As well as a respect for human life. A sincere “Pro-Life” attitude applies the Sanskrit term Namaste (7): “I bow to the divine in you” – Whether it be a human, an animal, a tree or the Earth. In my opinion, the highest level of morality & consciousness is embodied in the human being who respects, is partners with & who is spiritually connected to other humans, animals & the Earth (8) In my opinion, the highest form of Non-violence includes: Animal & Earth rights – as well as Human rights. The highest form of Morality (9), (10) & Consciousness (11) acknowledges Animal pain & suffering as well as Human pain & suffering; The highest form of morality & consciousness recognized Animal & Earth rights – as well as Human rights. Future generations will look back upon the humans of the 21st Century & with anger & sorrow at the savagery & brutality of Homo Sapiens & the 21st Century human lust for killing & harming other humans, animals & the Earth.

I. WAR, NUCLEAR BOMBS & GENOCIDE: Humans boast that they are Pro-life, when in reality they use guns & other weapons to kill humans.
WAR: For example, humans kill human enemies during times of war. How does this killing occur? The human Ego believes in the Me –vs- You Universe – for which the You category includes Enemies, strangers, the Other, etc.. Furthermore, If you demonize the enemy, then it is easier to kill that enemy. Human xenophobia includes killing enemies with different nationalities, different skin colors, different languages, different cultures, different religions, etc.. Once an enemy/a target is identified, then humans use guns & other weapons to shoot at, bomb, throw grenades at, aim missiles at, shoot Depleted Uranium bullets at & aim white phosphorus incendiaries at such targets. Wikipedia provides List of Wars & disasters by Death Toll including WWII, the An Shi Rebellion, the Mongol conquests, the Qing dynasty conquest & the Taiping Rebellion – each ranging in the tens of millions of deaths (12)
HOWARD ZINN on WAR & WWII: Howard Zinn’s thinking evolved from a belief in Just & unjust wars to a: “Universal rejection of war as a solution to any human problem. Zinn reviews the motives for WWII including: Freedom & Democracy, to Save the Jews, a War against Racism, etc. He speaks of the deceptions of war including: Truman told the public “The first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima …to avoid … the killing of civilians”. (The Hiroshima atomic bomb killed 140,000 people including many civilians) Zinn reminds us that Millions of people died in WWII – the Good war. (13) WWII estimates of total dead range from 50 Million to over 70 Million (people); It was the deadliest military conflict in history. (14)
GENOCIDE: Some humans have carried killing a step further & committed Genocide: “The deliberate & systematic destruction, in whole or in part, of an ethinic, racial, religion or national group”. (15) Adam Jones presents four main motives for the perpetrators of genocide: Narcissism, Greed, Fear & Humiliation. (16)
HIROSHIMA & NAGASAKI: Within the first few months after the bombings, “The acute effects killed 90,000-166,000 people in Hiroshima & 60,000-80,000 in Nagasaki” (17)
IRAQ WAR: Regarding the Casualties of the conflict in Iraq since 2003, “The Iraq government reported (in December 2007) that there were 5 Million orphans in Iraq – almost half of the country’s children”. (18) Wikipedia provides a table summarizing some of the Iraqi casualty figures including: the Opinion Research Business survey which provides the violent death toll as a result of the conflict to be 1,033,000 as of August 2007.
DEPLETED URANIUM: The Gulf War Veterans website provides many references regarding the alleged dangers of Depleted Uranium including information on: Deaths, cancers, suicides & birth defects – related to Depleted Uranium. (19)
LANDMINES: “There are over 60 Million active landmines in the world today. … Landmines affect 88 countries in the world: Afghanistan, Cambodia, Angola, Mozambique & Bosnia are the most heavily plagued countries. … More than 2,000 people a month are injured or killed by landmines, most are civilians in peace time” (20)
CONCLUSION: War, nuclear bombs, genocide, Depleted Uranium bullets, Landmines & killing do not constitute Pro-Life behavior.
II. KILLING BY NEGLECT of CHILDREN, the ELDERLY, the DISABLED, the POOR, etc.: Humans can kill by two methods: #1. Directly by physical assault or #2. Indirectly by neglect & depraved indifference (21) & reckless disregard. (22) Children, the elderly, the disabled & the poor are at risk of being victims of the violence of neglect.
III. HUMAN: KILLING, ABUSE & EXPLOITATION OF ANIMALS:
*NAZI GENOCIDE & ANIMAL KILLING: Lucy Rosen Kaplan, Esq. states in the Forward of Charles Patterson’s book Eternal Treblinka: “In Eternal Treblinka, not only are we shown the common roots of Nazi genocide & modern society’s enslavement & slaughter on non-human animals … but for the first time we are presented with extensive evidence of the profoundly troubling connections between animal exploitation in the United States & Hitler’s Final Solution”. Kaplan describes America as “The most animal-exploiting civilization in history”. (23)
*ANIMAL PAIN & SUFFERING: Gregory defines Suffering as: “An unpleasant state of mind that disrupts the quality of life. It is the mental state associated with unpleasant experiences such as pain, malaise, distress, injury & emotional numbness” (such as boredom). Animals know suffering. & Yet humans inflict immense suffering on animals. Gregory reviews the ways in which animals express pain including: Escape reactions, abnormal posture, guarding behavior, vocalizing, withdrawal, restlessness, writhing, whimpering, crying, groaning, tremor, spasm, depression, hiding, sweating, etc.. (24) *THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM JUSTIFIES HUMAN KILLING of ANIMALS in CRUSH FILMS as “Free Speech”: Humans are the only species to abuse animals for entertainment & sport purposes; Also, humans are the only species whereby the judicial system justifies this animal cruelty as “Free Speech”. The book Cruelty to Animals states: “Crush films”: “Depict animal cruelty &/or pornographic acts with animals, usually involving the crushing death of an animal” (e.g. a cat or a dog). Tragically, “The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that these films were protected as free speech”. (25)
A. KILLING OF ANIMALS for FOOD & CLOTHES: Humans brag that they are Pro-Life, when the truth is that humans slaughter Billions of animals each year for food & leather & fur clothes. “Each year 10 Billion domesticated land animals are slaughtered for food in the United States. … Worldwide the yearly slaughter count is more than 50 Billion”. (26) Animals suffer greatly in the factory farming industry from the time they are born until they are brutally killed. Furthermore, humans suffer from heart attacks, strokes & cancers related to all this meat eating. A healthier alternative is for humans to eat a vegetarian or vegan diet.
*SLAUGHTERING OF HORSES – COMPANION ANIMALS: “According to the USDA, the two slaughter plants in Texas killed 49,235 horses in 2003 for human consumption & about 20,000 horses were transported to Canada & Mexico for slaughter”. (27) The Humane Society states that (Horse) slaughter … is a brutal & terrifying end for horses. (28) The Animal Welfare Institute says we have “Betrayed our Equine Ally”. (29)
It is sad that the human race brutally kills horses for meat to eat. It would be kinder to euthanize these horses – rather than send these beautiful animals to such a vicious death by stabbing or electric shock in Mexico.
B. KILLING OF ANIMALS for MEDICAL & “SAFETY’ TESTING:
“Worldwide, it is estimated that 50 to 100 Million vertebrate animals are used (caged, injected, traumatized, surgerized & killed) annually (for animal testing)”. Alternatives to animal testing are provided in this reference. (30)
C. KILLING OF OVERPOPULATED CATS & DOGS due to the FAILURE TO SPAY & NEUTER ANIMALS
The Humane Society states: “Four million cats & dogs … are put down in U.S. shelters each year. Often these animals are the offspring of cherished family pets. … Many cats & dogs who die as a result of pet overpopulation could have made wonderful pets. … A solution is possible & starts with each of us taking one small step: Getting our own pets fixed”. (31)
D. KILLING OF ANIMALS FOR FUR COATS & LEATHER CLOTHES:
“More than 30 Million animals worldwide are raised in cages & killed each year for their fur. Not only are cage-raised animals killed inhumanely, but they suffer from numerous physical & behavioral abnormalities induced by the stress of caging conditions. The Humane Society of the United States is strongly opposed to raising animals in cages & killing them for fur apparel & accessories”. (32)
E. KILLING OF ANIMALS BY HUNTING:
“More than 100 Million animals are reported killed by hunters each year”. (33)
F. KILLING OF ANIMALS BY TRAPPING: “Four Million wild animals are killed in the United States each year by … trappers who supply pelts to the fashion industry. … The Humane Society of the United States strongly opposes the commercial & recreational trapping of wild animals for their fur. Traps are inhumane devices that inflict great pain & suffering, both to the target animals & to unintended victims such as pets & endangered species”. (34)
G. KILLING OF CANADIAN SEALS:
In 2007, about 234,000 Canadian harp seals were killed – An event that takes place in March/April of each year. Paul McCartney has voiced his opposition to the Canadian Seal Hunt. (35) Seals are brutally clubbed or stabbed to death during this human orgy of killing -- All for sexy fur coats.
IV. ECOCIDE: Humans swagger & strut that they are Pro-Life, when the fact is that humans are committing ecocide against the Earth with Nuclear waste, Depleted Uranium, pesticides, Napalm, Agent Orange, DDT, PCB’s, litter, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch/the Pacific Trash Vortex (36) etc.. Humans deforest, strip mine, ocean trawl, etc. the planet Earth.
*Military Destruction of the Earth: Barry Saunders states: “The Science for Peace Institute at the Univ. of Toronto found that an astonishing 10 to 30 % of all global environmental destruction comes from worldwide military activites. … The Institute …concludes … that the armed forces of the world hold the distinction as the single biggest polluters on the planet”. (37) Saunders & Bertell review the environmental consequences of war including: Air & land & water pollution, Depleted uranium, bomb toxicity, natural resource depletion, habitat destruction, etc.. (37),(38)
*Agent Orange: Regarding Vietnam & Agent Orange: Geoffrey Cain states: “The United States sprayed up to 18 Million gallons of Agent Orange around Vietnam. (39) Cain also states: The Vietnamese government … estimates that as many as 400,000 Vietnamese have died from illnesses related to exposure to dioxin, such as cancer. It also claims that up to 500,000 children have birth defects, such as spina bifida, because their parents were exposed”. (40)
*ANTHROPOCENE EPOCH: “The term Anthropocene is used by some scientists to describe the current period in the Earth’s history when human activities have had a significant (negative) global impact on the Earth’s ecosystems. It has no precise start date, but may be considered to start with the Industrial Revolution (18th Century). (41) Major changes heralding this two-century old man-made epoch include: Altered sediment erosion, Major disturbances to the carbon cycle & global temperature, Acidification of the ocean which threatens tiny marine life that forms the bottom of the food chain. (42)
MAN-MADE ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTERS:
*Chernobyl Nuclear Power Accident: “Greenpeace said more that 90,000 people are likely to die of cancers caused by radiation from the Chernobyl explosion” (43)
*Exxon Valdez Oil Spill: ”Between 100,000 & 600,000 birds, 5,500 sea otters, 30 seals & 22 whales were killed (by the Exxon Valdez oil spill).(44)
*Bhopal Industrial Disaster at the Pesticide Plant in India: “”The official immediate death toll was 2,259; The government of Madhya Pradesh has confirmed a total of 3,787 deaths related to the gas release. Other government agencies estimate 15,000 deaths”. (45)
DEFORESTATION: TREES CUT DOWN BY HUMANS EACH YEAR:
About “3 billion to 6 billion trees” are cut down each year worldwide – i.e. about the size of Ireland. (46)
V. HUMAN OVERPOPULATION & THE EXTINCTION OF SPECIES:
*Human HOARDING of the Sun’s Energy: Humans flaunt & gloat that they are Pro-Life, when the truth is that Homo Sapiens now consume a significant amount of the sun’s energy – as humans compete with animals & plant species for this finite energy source. Vitousek et al state: ”Humans now appropriate nearly 40% of potential terrestrial productivity” (i.e. the sun’s energy) “Homo Sapiens (are) only one of perhaps 5-30 million animal species on Earth, yet (humans) control a disproportionate share of the planet’s resources”. (47) Leaky & Lewin say: “Humans consume 40% of the … total energy trapped in photosynthesis worldwide … In other words, of all the energy available to sustain all the species on Earth, Homo Sapiens take almost half”. (48)
*12 Billion MISERABLE Humans: Pimentel describes 2 main scenarios for the human population in the 22nd Century: “A planet with 2 billion people thriving in harmony with the environment or at the other extreme 12 billion miserable humans suffering a difficult life with limited resources & widespread famine”. (49)
*Collapse of Civilization: Jared Diamond lists factors which have or may contribute to the collapse of societies including: Habitat destruction, Soil erosion, Water management problems, Human-caused climate change, etc.. The root problem is all but one of Diamond’s factors leading to collapse is Overpopulation. (50)
*Comments: As humans deplete the Earth’s resources, Homo Sapiens push out & make extinct other species. If this trend continues, in time there will only be Billions & billions of miserable, reproducing human beings & the ever resistant bug & weed species remaining on an otherwise extinct, dirty, crowded, exploited planet Earth.
VI. DESTRUCTION of the EARTH WITH NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGY WASTE:
The WagingPeace.org website lists the risks & dangers of nuclear energy including: Proliferation risks, Risks of Accidents, Environmental Degradation & Nuclear Waste. This website states: “A typical (nuclear) reactor generate(s) 20 to 30 tons of high-level nuclear waste (each year). There is no known way to safely dispose of this waste, which remains dangerously radioactive until it naturally decays”. (51)
VII. HUMAN DENIAL of RESPONSIBILITY for VIOLENCE?
Why do humans deny responsibility for their Violence & often blame others for this violence? Cohen states: “’Denial’ refers to the maintenance of social worlds in which an undesirable situation … is unrecognized, ignored or made to seem normal. Consciousness raising, … pressure groups or victim demands then construct this ‘thing’ into a category of deviance, crime, sin, social problem or pathology”. Cohen adds: “Denial (of suffering)… reflect(s) … states in which suffering is not acknowledged”. Turning a blind eye, a mode of evading the realities of personal & mass suffering, reflect(s) a respect & fear of the truth”. On the other hand, Perpetrators who retreat from the truth & “Show a contempt for the truth” have a self-righteousness that “Exonerates all atrocities & … blames others:.(52)
VIII. CONCLUSION:
*WITHDRAWAL OF CONSENT FOR HUMAN VIOLENCE: I withdraw my consent from Human violence (53) including the violence of: War, Nuclear technology, animal abuse, pollution, deforestation, animal extinctions, etc..
*HOMO SAPIEN NARCISSISM: In my opinion, very few people perceive the truth in life; Most humans are obsessed or distracted with addictions including cruelty & violence. Those addictions pervert any real awareness of the truth. Furthermore, the truth is uncomfortable for most people. The truth about human selfishness is especially unpleasant. Also, even if a person sees a hint of the truth, it is pushed away i.e. denied. The Truth is that humans are a violent species; While humans are capable of compassion, they choose not to be compassionate as a whole; Humans do not really hear the cries of other humans, animals or the Earth in chronic states of pain, suffering & destruction – All because of Homo Sapien Narcissism. Human narcissism is a barrier to human evolution. Can humans die to their selfish ways?
*COGNITIVE DISSONANCE: Homo Sapien Inconsistency & Confusion: C. David Coats states: “Isn’t man an amazing animal? He kills wildlife … by the millions in order to protect his domestic animals … Then he kills domestic animals by the billions and eats them. This in turn kills man by the millions because eating all those animals leads to degenerative – and fatal – health conditions like heart disease … and cancer. So then man tortures and kills millions more (research) animals to look for cures for these diseases. … (Then) man … sends out (holiday) cards praying for ‘Peace on Earth’”. (54)
*THE CAUSES OF HOMO SAPIEN KILLING, EARTH’S DESTRUCTION
& BAD DECISION MAKING:
In my opinion Homo Sapien killing is due to the human Ego & 3 main factors: #1. Poor guidance by the leaders of society, #2. Groupthink & #3. Capitalism.
*POOR LEADERSHIP: Finkelstein et al discuss the reasons why leaders make bad decisions including a discourse on Inappropriate self-interest. (55)
*GROUPTHINK: Janis talks about the Groupthink syndrome which includes 3 main features: Overestimations of the group’s power & morality, Closed-mindedness & Pressures toward uniformity. Furthermore, Janis states that “Whenever a policy-making group displays most of the symptoms of groupthink, we can expect to find that the group also displays symptoms of defective decision-making”; Symptoms of defective decision-making include: Incomplete survey of alternatives, Failure to examine risks of preferred choices, Poor information search & Selective bias in processing information at hand. (56)
*CAPITALISM: Magdoff & Foster state regarding Capitalism & environmental destruction: “We learn that greed, exploitation of laborers & competition … are not only acceptable but are actually good for society. … Capitalism is a system that must continually expand. … Today multinational corporations scour the world for resources … The result is a more rapacious global exploitation of nature. … The irreversible exhaustion of finite natural resources will leave future generations without the possibility of having use of these resources. … Now … the socio-economic system of capitalism has grown to such a scale that it overshoots fundamental planetary boundaries : The carbon cycle … the soil, the forests, the oceans. … All ecosystems on Earth are in visible decline”. (57)
*Solutions: Solutions to Human killing & cruelty include: #1. Humility as an antidote to the Ego, #2. A system of checks & balances to prevent bad Leadership decisions and #3. Critical Thinking skills & Independent thinking as antidotes to Groupthink. #4. Alternative environmentally-friendly sustainable economic systems rather than Capitalism.
*HUMAN WEAPONS: “A weapon is a tool used to apply force for the purpose of causing harm or damage to persons, animals or structures. Weapons are used in hunting, attack, self-defense or defense in combat & range from simple prehistoric weapons like clubs & spears to complicated modern weapons such as intercontinental ballistic missiles”. (58) Humans also incite violence & potentially kill with swear words.(59) Humans use these weapons including fists & guns & knives to: Kill, torture, abuse, slaughter, rape, etc.. Perhaps Homo Sapiens can learn to use the executive control center of their brains, i.e. the frontal lobes not only for impulse control (60) but also more specifically to restrain & limit human weapon use & violence.
IX. *HOMO EARTH: The NEW HUMAN SPECIES: (61)
*Homo Earth is a philosophical concept that I have developed to deal with my Anguish after having witnessed many severe acts of Cruelty committed by Homo Sapiens -- inflicted upon humans, animals & the Earth -- throughout my lifetime. May we all undergo a spiritual transformation to the principles of Homo Earth.
*DECLARATION: As a result of Homo Sapien cruelty, I declare my withdrawal from the human race. This Homo Sapiens species is far too cruel for me. I am a new species: Homo Earth. I will not participate in this human madness of murder, torture, slavery, pollution, human overpopulation & bombings that humans commit against other living beings & the Earth. I am Homo Earth – a New species that is partners with & that treats humans, animals & the planet Earth with respect.
The Homo Earth philosophy is Not about condemning or criminalizing the human race; It is Not about Me –vs- You. This philosophy Is about taking a Non-Violent stand against Homo Sapien cruelty; It Is about a paradigm shift in thinking from: The old Caveman, emotional, revenge, domination & violence ethic to a new Spiritual ethic of equality, respect, restraint & partnership with humans, animals & the Earth. Also, this concept Is about about a paradigm shift in thinking from: The old Status quo & Mob/crowd/groupthink mentality to a new ethic of independent thinking, critical self-examination & self-improvement.
The Basic Principles of the Homo Earth philosophy include: Do No Harm, Love, Education, Rational Thinking, Responsibility, Peacemaking & Truth Seeking, Awareness, Awareness of the Dangerous Human Ego, Alternatives to Revenge, Environmental Justice & Green Accounting, Animal Rights & Responsible Human Reproduction. The most important principle of all is the Do No Harm ethic & offering a humble Apology if one does harm to others.
