Hapless Kids

By Sheikh M Ashraf

After offering the morning prayers they were in queue waiting for Kashmiri bread, meanwhile one parent in an uneasy mood told another, that his younger son is known epileptic, who had no antiepileptic medicine yesterday, and started abnormal body movements from mid night and continued with it. We as parents were very upset and finally braved the danger, came out of home and were looking for and auto to take the kid to hospital, meanwhile a very loud and barking sound were heard, go inside it is curfew, we pleaded that our kid is sick, they replied it order, go inside lest face the music, we moved in, with our whole body trembling with fear, only praying to Allah help us to bear it, Oh Allah let our kid come out of this phase, till morning , when we were allowed to take kid to hospital probably it was a deal in curfew.

Hearing this uneasy tale another one said, I have kid who is on supplementary feeds, but baby feeds are short, more over due to curfew and strikes we could not bring baby foods to our kid, who despite continuously feeding to his mother, do cry intermittently, probably due to inadequate food. His health seems ran down. I several times tried to get baby food from market, but all the way either it is curfew or strike. No one seems to be bothered, we are frustrated what to do now, is there any way to get the help from?
On hearing this heart rendering tales the third one told that hid two kids are not going to school from last 3 months, they are asking us, why you are not allowing us to move out? Why people are enchanting the pro-freedom slogans? Why men in uniform are there not allowing any body to move out? Why women and families are wailing? Why you are not bringing us the eatables which we like, and you used to bring till few months before? … But we never have easy answers for them. And these kids are hapless kids of helpless parents. Only Almighty Allah can help us.

After sharing these bitter experiences, they sat together and had a plan to try to approach to a person who can help them, they thought probably immediate law and order officer can help them, on approaching and pleading for help they may return with heads down, as they have heard, it is order from higher authorities. They thought to approach the concerned high rank civil services officer who may show cold shoulder, and may say that persons of the law enforcing agencies are there to help them. In these thoughts they tried to look for concerned top political person who after blaming them for several reasons may tell it is central home ministry which could really help them out. On approaching to central health ministry, they thought, may get imprisonment, or will be told things are improving, and they have just concluded the all party meet, but could not reach to consensus, now have decided that there will have next all party meet very soon. Meanwhile they got up from sleep and could not get out of bed due to horrific dream which seems reality on ground as well, Oh Allah save us, forgive us, we have committed sins, for You are all Knowth and Forgiver.
