Vets Day Postmortem

veterans-day

Current US President elect denounced the “death and destruction” brought down on the the Middle East under the outgoing Democratic administration Obama and Sec. of State Hillary. If the wholesale and genocidal destruction of 3 wealthy Arab oil nations is now a discredited activity by US President-elect Donald Trump how the hell can Americans who are veterans of bringing about this “death and destruction” be hailed as heroes?

Two US presidential elections ago, Trump’s fellow Republican Congressman Ron Paul, said over and over again on prime time evening news cast coverage of the Republican presidential candidates debates of 2012, “All the invasions and bombings starting with Korea were illegal and unconstitutional.” For over two weeks during the 2000 presidential election campaign, mainstream media channels ran video clips of candidate Obama’s pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, shouting, “God damn America for her crimes against humanity.”  These statements by prominent Americans, though heard repeatedly by US TV viewers at home and abroad were ignored on subsequent Veterans Days as war supporting media made their usual annual pitch for the praise of what are in reality America’s innumerable and massive prosecutable genocidal crimes against humanity.[1]

In 2016, the usual official and corporate media Veterans Day indiscriminate praise of Americans who participated not only in military action during World War Two, but also the many more millions of Americans who participated in police actions and humanitarian interventions for regime changes thereafter, does not seem to fit with the current US President-elect’s denouncing of the “death and destruction” brought down on the people of the Middle East under the outgoing Democratic Administration of President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. If the wholesale and genocidal destruction of three wealthy Arab oil nations is now a discredited activity by US President-elect Donald Trump, how the hell can Americans veterans who participated in bringing about the “death and destruction” continue to be hailed as heroes?

Though wars promoting CIA fed mainstream media[2] did its best to make sure few Americans heard or remembered that Trump, early in the election campaign, had been maintaining, among other things, that the five trillion dollars spent on wars for regime change in the Middle East should have been spent in the US rebuilding its infrastructure; that NATO is obsolete; that the US should seek friendship with China and Russia; that he likes Xi Jinping and Putin, (America’s perennial and sacrosanct mortal enemies!) and that he would get along fine with them. Trump has called two term fellow Republican President, George Bush, a liar for having lied about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction and has voiced suspicion about the 9/11 attack that happened so easily on Bush’s watch. Trump has disputed hailing former presidential candidate Senator John McCain, 2008 Republican presidential candidate, a hero for having been shot down while bombing Vietnam. Trump has asked, “why must the United States lead the world everywhere on the globe and play the role of the world’s policeman, now for example in Ukraine? ” Trump asks, “why does the United States always pursue regime changes — Iraq, Libya, Ukraine, and now it wants a regime change in Syria, Damascus, when the result is disaster.” He has stated that his opponent “brought death and disaster” outside the US.

Most importantly, Trump has condemned and ridiculed eighty percent of media’s reporters and commentators as pathetic liars, which comes close to the what is in reality that one hundred percent, who are willing to preposterously describe America’s running crimes against humanity as heroic deeds in defense of American freedom. Since its Operation Mockingbird [2], begun in the early 1950’s, the CIA has overseen, fed and tightly controlled the monolithic gigantic news and entertainment media corporations that produce an estimated 98% of all sources of information available to the American public, and even before Operation Mockingbird Albert Einstein described why our civilization continues to be “like an axe in the had of the pathological criminal,”:“Under existing conditions, private capitalists inevitably control, directly or indirectly, the main sources of information (press, radio, education). It is thus extremely difficult, and indeed in most cases quite impossible, for the individual citizen to come to objective conclusions and to make intelligent use of his political rights.” — [Albert Einstein, Essays in Humanism]

Trump has made it clear he is against US genocidal[1] regime changes, so how long will it be credible for corporate media to go on praising veterans who followed illegal orders during military action for so many regime change invasions and bombings back in the days when the excuse given was anti-communism instead of today’s excuse of anti-bad-guys threatening US Interests and American freedom?

Now that Trump has been elected, will the abomination that is the US criminal cartel of giant entertainment news and information corporations manage to have their captive audience forget what Trump said during the 2016 election campaign, as we have been made to forget the words of other celebrities which could embarrass those paid liars in media candidate Donald Trump denounced in his speeches during his run for the presidency?

It good for America to honor indiscriminately all Veterans on Veterans Day?

Contrast such honoring of all Veterans with some famous admonishments by:

 Nelson Mandela,“US has committed unspeakable atrocities;”

former Attorney General Ramsey Clark,“US foreign policy the greatest crime since the Second World War;” [3]

Martin Luther King,“Time has come when silence is betrayal. They languish under our bombs, children homeless without clothes run in packs beg our soldiers for food, sell their sisters, mothers. The greatest purveyor of violence in the world is my own government!”  King held all Americans, including himself, “responsible for their refusal to forgo the pleasures and privileges that derive from the immense profits from unjust predatory overseas profits US atrocity wars on three continents since 1945 are meant to maintain;” [Beyond Vietnam – a Time to Break Silence http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/mlkatimetobreaksilence.htm]

Mark Twain,“Easier to fool people than convince them they’ve been fooled. It is far better that you fear the media, for they will steal your Honor. That awful power, the public opinion of a nation, is created in America by a horde of ignorant, self-complacent simpletons who failed at ditching and shoemaking and fetched up in journalism;”

Major General Smedley Butler,”War is a Racket. I spent most of my time being a high class muscle- man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. This is typical with everyone in the military service.” US Marine Major General Smedley Butler in 1935 published his WAR Is a Racket – It always has been; [4]

World Champion Muhammad Ali, “I have said it once and I will say it again. The real enemy of my people is here – white slave masters of the darker people the world over;” [5]

Noam Chomsky, Prof. emeritus Massachusetts Institute of Technology, often voted America’s preeminent intellectual, lecturing at ST. Mcihael’s College, 1990,

“If the Nuremberg laws were applied, then every post-war American president would have been hanged.

By violation of the Nuremberg laws I mean the same kind of crimes for which Nazis were hanged in Nuremberg”.

(Chomsky has repeated this statement, bringing it up to date to include the current US President.)

Indian Writer Arundhati Roy, “The civil rights movement in the United States has become a war supporting movement;

Samuel Johnson, poet, essayist, moralist, literary critic, biographer, editor and lexicographer, Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.” April, 1775

US President Abraham Lincoln

“You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

Robert Jackson, US Chief Prosecutor at Nuremberg Trials of Nazis

To initiate a war of aggression, therefore, is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole.

Gen. Telford Taylor, a Chief Counsel for the Prosecution at the Nuremberg trials after World War Two, said of US pilots shot down while bombing Vietnam, “I would be proud to lead in their prosecution.”

Robert Richter, an Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker, and political director for CBS News from 1965 to 1968 writing in Bomber Pilot McCain: War Heroism or War Crimes? published by Institute for Public Accuracy, October 15, 2008;

Congressman Ron Paul, during the GOP Presidential Candidates Debates of 2008, was shown repeating on prime time news programs over two weeks thatall US invasions and military action beginning with the war in Korea have been illegal and unconstitutional and have sadly has taken a huge toll in human lives;”

Jesus of Nazareth worshiped as God by perhaps a majority of Americans,“As you did unto my brothers, you did unto Me.” Matthew 25:40 [6]

Non-white majority Mankind, mostly African, Asian and Native Americas, descendant from the planet’s earliest civilizations, long plundered by savage descendants of ferocious Vikings and other primitive European tribes, will soon control a China led reconstituted United Nations and its courts and force now superpower America, and the other white Colonial Powers it leads, to pay compensation for tens of millions of wrongful death and injury, stolen property and natural resources as condemned by Jeremiah Wright in sermon, “God damn America for her crimes against humanity.”

End Notes

1.

Article 2 of the”Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide defines genocide as any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or part a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: (a) Killing members of the group;

(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;

(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;

(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group or forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

Mockingbird was a secret operation by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to influence media. Begun in the 1950s, organization recruited leading American journalists into a network to help present the CIA’s views, and funded some student and cultural organizations, and magazines as fronts and also worked to influence foreign media and political campaigns.
After 1953, Operation Mockingbird had major influence over 25 newspapers and wire agencies. The usual methodology was placing reports developed from intelligence provided by the CIA to witting or unwitting reporters. Those reports would then be repeated or cited by the preceding reporters which in turn would then be cited throughout the media wire services. These networks were run by people with well-known pro-American big business and anti-communist views.
The CIA currently maintains a network of individuals around the world who attempt to influence opinion through the use of covert propaganda, and provide direct access to a large amount of newspapers and periodicals, scores of press services and news agencies, radio and television stations, commercial book publishers, and other foreign media outlets.”

US Attorney General Ramsey Clark endorses, and has inspired, the educational and stimulus website Prosecute US Crimes Against Humanity Now Campaign, which contains the pertinent laws and a country by country history of US crimes. The immediate hoped for effect of the campaign is to seed as rapidly as possible, the idea of eventual prosecution as a topic of conversation throughout the world, which though now seems unthinkable and unimaginable will begin to be thought of first as plausible, then as logical and probable, to be expected, inevitable and necessary in a sane and just world, able to deal with the insanity of capitalism over humanity.

Internet’s Dissident Voice, which identifies itself as “A Radical Newsletter in the Struggle for Peace and Social Justice,” features at the bottom of each issue a statement and link as follows:

“Dissident Voice supports the call to Prosecute US Crimes against Humanity Now Campaign.”

Former Attorney Clark is also a co-founder along with Howard Zinn of the

King Condemned US Wars International Awareness Campaign, long widely endorsed and strongly supported by Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa.

“It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.

A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small “inside” group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.

In the World War [I] a mere handful garnered the profits of the conflict. At least 21,000 new millionaires and billionaires were made in the United States during the World War. That many admitted their huge blood gains in their income tax returns.

Smedley Butler on Interventionism

I spent thirty- three years and four months in active military service as a member of this country’s most agile military force, the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most of my time being a high class muscle- man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.

My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service.

I helped make Mexico, especially Tampico, safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefits of Wall Street. The record of racketeering is long. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912 (where have I heard that name before?). I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. In China I helped to see to it that Standard Oil went its way unmolested.

I could have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents.

Just before his indictment for refusing the draft in March of 1967, Ali stated publicly, “Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go 10,000 miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on Brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights? No I’m not going 10,000 miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over. This is the day when such evils must come to an end. I have been warned that to take such a stand would cost me millions of dollars. But I have said it once and I will say it again. The real enemy of my people is here. I will not disgrace my religion, my people or myself by becoming a tool to enslave those who are fighting for their own justice, freedom and equality. If I thought the war was going to bring freedom and equality to 22 million of my people they wouldn’t have to draft me, I’d join tomorrow. I have nothing to lose by standing up for my beliefs. So I’ll go to jail, so what? We’ve been in jail for 400 years.”

Mark Twain wrote as quoted the above before TV, before Radio, and the present 98% control of all print and electronic news and entertainment giant 6  CIA and Pentagon fed media all owned by investors speculating profitably in the illegal and unconstitutional use of US Armed Forces and CIA.

Mark Twain and Helen Keller co-founded The Anti-imperialist League, but  failed to stop the US genocide in the Philippines.

They will come to praise King and bury again King’s condemnation of US atrocity “wars meant to maintain unjust predatory investments on three continents.” They will hail King to heaven, loudly, to drown out anyone whispering that King called their dirty government “the greatest purveyor of violence in the world.”     But King held them and all Americans, including himself responsible, not government, for Americans refusal to forgo the pleasures and privileges that derive from the immense profits in those unjust predatory overseas profits.

Arundhati Roy: ‘Civil Rights Movement in US Has Become a War Supporting Movement’ Article bemoans how selective it is to bemoan the lack of civil rights, but only in America, and even for those Americans who return from willingly denying the very right to remain alive in their own beloved countries overseas. King had warned in his world shaking sermon in April of 1967 that there will be no progress on issues of social and racial justice at home while we continue to kill the poor oversea using up the enormous human and financial resources that make such progress at home impossible.
