Social Media act as a successful tool in recent uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt. Now, Tamils turned out to social media such as Twitter and Facebook to spread the message of Tamil Fishermen plight. Supporters have been using the hash tag #tnfisherman to spread the news. Fisherman continuously killed by Sri Lankan Navy. Around 515 fishermen killed by Sri Lankan Navy in the coast of Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean.
A website dedicated to fight for the cause of Tamil Fisherman in India which regularly updating the news and twits about ongoing plight of Tamil Fisherman.

There is also a Face book page created very few days back used as a tool to support for Fisherman strangled by Sri Lankan Navy in recent days.
It’s amazing because this is first time social media is used effectively to fight for the rights of Tamils in India.
There are few available options which is totally not used effectively by Tamils of India, such as
YouTube
Posting videos of the protests happened and happening in coastal parts of Tamil Nadu and inner regions, which can be effectively updated using YouTube, which spread the news faster and easily. It is better to have English sub-titles to reach a wider audience.

There are lot of people using Flickr, which are always tagged and geotagged. Posting photos of ongoing development can make it easier to find a good source of information, and reach to a lot people

Google provide personalised map option, where can add the geolocation with images, news and updates. It is readily sharable to all people.
