Enough Already

Enough already. How many more editorials must be written about the fact that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and the American president, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and yes, Colin Powell, lied about about the WMD’s? How many times does it have to be reported that indeed, Bush and Cheney lied to justify the war they had planned years earlier? How many more newspapers are going to apologize for their idiocy, when most of the world and many thousand Americans knew of the lies and the wrongful intents. How many members of Congress and the Senate will drop to their knees and plead for forgiveness for believing a liar? How many times will Condolezza Rice lie about her knowledge of the lack of WMD’s? (Has anyone heard from Condolezza recently?)

Seymour Hersh has had enough time to get a book printed about the abuses in Abu Graib, the abuses that the Red Cross had identified to the American leadership and the abuses that the Department of Defense ignored. The same abuses that violated the Geneva Convention, which Donald Rumsfeld and the Department of Defense decided was no longer timely. Seems the Geneva Convention could be unilaterally edited just as Iraq could be unilaterally bombed. We saw thepictures, we were horrified, investigative committees determined that the responsibility went to the top, as lawyers for Bush tried to justify that the Geneva Convention was out of date; they just didn’t bother to tell any other nations. So what? So far, only the trailer park soldiers have been punished. We now understand that Rumsfeld feels no guilt about the abuse administered to Iraqi people and children, in light of his response to American dead. Hell, one thousand American soldiers killed - not that many, really. And the wounded, maimed, loss of soul? Seven thousand American soldiers - what number would you guess for the Iraqis?

How much longer will the prisoners at Guantanamo be held without due process? How much longer do we look for Bin Laden (if we are at all), the man we trained? What has happened to Saddam? How much higher can the national debt go before it bursts? How many more times will the murders of Iraqi civilians by American military go unreported in the US media, while the rest of the world watches our slaughtering of men, women and children, our machines in the sky safely targeting individual people, playing video games with intent to kill, while the rest of the world watches and despises us for these mass murders.

Just keep the reality blacked out from the American people, much as football games are blacked out from the hometown crowd. Gotta buy your ticket to see the truth of the violence. How much longer will the media continue to lie and protect? What are they afraid to speak the truth? Nothing will be worse than the future they are heading toward.

How many more reports do we have to read about Cheney and Halliburton and other billion-dollar contracts in Iraq? Not to mention Scalia, who helped appoint this disaster.

Why am I threatened with arrest for handing out flyers at a movie theater after Fahrenheit 911? Why do I have to be escorted to my car by a police officer? How does the political party in power lease property from the state to use for detaining political rivals, property condemned as unsafe.

Who possibly believes today that George Bush completed his national guard duty, was even in the guard except for daddy’s power? And who doesn’t know the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are only liars and work for the Bush election team? What does it matter, 40 years later? All is predicated on lies and greed and power. How long before Kitty Kelly meets with a fatal accident?

Enough already. I’ve decided there are no new editorials for me to read. Nothing to help me understand why the American people are standing by and watching the total chaos and destruction of the American government. How much more information do we need? We have more than enough evidence to impeach George Bush. We have more than enough evidence to hold George Bush and Donald Rumsfeld in violation of the laws of the Geneva Convention. And it seems to matter not.
