Dear friend of Countercurrents,Countercurrents is celebrating the sixth anniversary of its inception on 27th March. Countercurrents.org came online on 27 th March 2002. Since then, we have grown a lot with your support. About 20,000 unique visitors visit our site every day. We send out our regular news letter to about 8000 people.
Although we are very proud of our growth, we are a little worried about the mounting expenses. As you know, web hosting and maintainance costs money. As our readership base grows we have to continually upgrade our server space and bandwidth and there are other expenses too like mailing list bandwidth, equipment costs, establishment charges etc....
In the truest spirit of independent internet journalism, we believe that whatever news, views and analysis given out from countercurrents should be independent in the truest sense of the word and free of biases. That's why we dont seek corporate sponsors; no banner advertising; no pop-up ads; no selling or renting of our mailing lists and no foundation donations. We want our funding to come 100% from you - our readers. Our target for this year is $ 15,000. If everyone who visits our site each day make a contribution of $ 1, we will easily reach our target.
We also know that all those who visit our site can not contribute. But by making a contribution you would be helping Countercurrents to provide information to those who cannot contribute and also will be helping us to reach out to more readers.
