What About Anonymous?

By Frank Rummel

19 August, 2011
Countercurrents.org

Zero Hour: Clandestine keystrokes in 13 time zones direct punitive
bytes toward obscure nodes on the Internet; intelligent routers
pyramid IP packets increasing in numbers, destructive data grows
exponentially across complex interconnections spiderwebbing the entire
planet; crescendo way too extreme - an overwhelming tsunami of
requests crashes and vanquishes the evil government server - DENIAL OF
SERVICE - Anonymous strikes again!

Rudely, and wielding significant technical sophistication, Anonymous
emerges from Internet culture as the new breed of hacker/activist.
Demonstrating in public wearing Guy Fawkes masks from the movie
"Vendetta", they protest and leisurely take down the computers of
powerful organizations.

This loose knit collection of hacktivists ("hacker" melded with
"activist") range globally with participants either masked to protect
their identity as wanted criminals or else openly blackballing their
foes by attesting their outrage and disapproval in public and with
impunity.

What is it about Anonymous?

I do not even like hackers because I have personally suffered greatly
from the attacks of trolls (people who take pleasure in maliciousness
perpetrated over the Internet). But, ironically, I see Anonymous as
heroes punishing the powerful elite while championing the little guy.
In this world's sorry state of affairs, how can I be so deranged?

Is it because I can do nothing about the politician's and the
corporate state's myriad acts of corruption, the bungling of the
national economy to the point of multiple credit worthiness
downgrades, this inexorable march toward disintegration of the once
great nation that is my only country, my only home?

As a U.S. citizen, all I can do now is just hang my head in shame as
the corporate state runs rampant and robs me of life, liberty and
pursuit of happiness.

Could Anonymous do something?

Their exploits are legendary. Successful take downs of CIA, FBI,
Police Departments, Egyptian government, Tunisian government, Syrian
government, scores of major corporations like Visa, Scientology,
PayPal, BART and on and on. They are not afraid to fight the world's
biggest and toughest adversaries.

Anonymous is shadowy and a little sinister while self-righteously
brazen, all the while dangerous but right on. Anyone can be an
Anonymous. There's no "official" organization. There are no leaders.
There is only the "Hive Mind" where individuals act in a way similar
to the individually independent but collectively cooperative behavior
of bees.

What if Anonymous hacked Congress?

It would be so easy. Concentrate on the elite few who run that foul
show (Majority Leader, Rules Committee Chairman etc.); they could give
these crooks something to think about.

Furthermore, if Anonymous gathered incriminating evidence and posted
it, perhaps there could be some arrests. But don't hold your breath on
this one; Congress is well insulated from the law. But we do need to
get something going before it is too late.

Then there's the media...

In reality, attacking Congress would not be necessary if the Media had
done their job and exposed this wide scope fraud perpetrated on the
common citizens. We do have elections, after all. But the populace is
befuddled and elections are all bogus and rigged behind the scenes, so
voters have no real choice; only Tweedle Dum versus Tweedle Dee.

Anonymous should attack the media for abdicating their obligation to
inform the public of heinous crimes perpetrated against us by the
corporate state. Oh, how true it is: responsible Journalism is
critical for a democracy to succeed. They betrayed our trust.

It is time...

Civil unrest is rampant. Dictators are being toppled. Blood is flowing
into the gutters as bodies pile higher and higher. The drones have YOU
in their sights.

Act now.

In their logic of anarchy, Anonymous shuns formal structure and it's
difficult to get a hold on them. There is nothing to prevent splinter
groups from forming (other than the fear of being hunted down by the
CIA, FBI, MI6, Interpol and most of the secret police forces on
Earth).

For example, I recently came across http://whatis-theplan.org which is
organizing a worldwide operation for September 23, 2011 called "The
Stand". I saw one of their banners on a Phoenix Arizona street.
Subsequent investigation revealed the above website.

It is important to note that the website states in big red letters
that they are NOT HACKERS. They have a 3 phase plan they are enacting
over a year's time. Over all, this particular faction seems to be a
peaceful one.

But who knows? The Fall brings hope for salvation from the evil
tyranny at the blood stained hands of the rich and powerful. A
successful operation on September 23, 2011 builds momentum snowballing
into a critical mass of the main event at the Washington DC Tent City
Occupation organized by Kevin Zeese which begins October 6, 2011.

This time we will occupy Freedom Plaza until we take back our country!!!

Frank is a Citizen Journalist on the trail of the meme called
Anonymous - an Internet phenomenon comprising highly sophisticated
hackers mostly eluding capture by the authorities, along with a
growing rank and file that participates via social media and activism
in the streets.
