The Wall Street Occupation Wants YOU!

By Frank Rummel

06 October, 2011
Countercurrents.org

In a fog of citizen complacency, the Government of United States has
been quietly taken over by wealthy and powerful entities. Powerful
lobbies like AIPAC dictate orders to the U.S. Government for financial
gain and manipulate the vast power of the United States for evil ends
without the consent of U.S. citizens.

Giant Corporations like Halliburton, Bank of America and others have
bought and pocketed our Government; Supreme Court Justices,
Presidents, Senators and Representatives alike serve only these
corporate masters - not the citizens of the United States who are the
rightful source of the power to govern.

As a result, we are a nation in crisis with each of us knowing all too
well the facts of his/her own predicament. Repossesion, eviction,
unemployment, onerous student loans, deprivation, lack of health care
and myriad troubles pepper us all.

Fortunately, while our problems have been growing unbearable,
activists have observed these conditions and created intelligent,
effective plans to solve these problems, but a vital ingredient is
missing: the participation and support of a certain indifferent,
disenfrancaised U.S. citizen. Sound like anyone you know?

RULE BY CORPORATIONS AND SPECIAL-INTEREST GROUPS
MUST STOP IMMEDIATELY!

U.S. Government disregard of the needs of its people has forced
Americans to take to the streets to find relief from this brazen
injustice and abuse. Thousands began protesting on Wall Street in New
York City in September to tell the story of this ripoff and rape of
the country. Embedded in this very seat of corporate greed, Occupy
Wall Street struggles heroically to take back our Government from
those elites who would use us as their slaves.

The Occupation of Wall Street will not cease until demands are met!

The eponymous Occupy Wall Street is a joyous gathering of eager
patriots, happily enduring the hardships of activism; marching,
demonstrating and camping out in the park at night; spreading the word
and bringing the peoples of the United States together in a fight to
defeat a common enemy and regain our right to rule.

"Enough is enough," they say. "We cannot bear the burden of corporate
oppression anymore."

Fourteen Trillion dollars in secret bailouts to banks, according to
Government accounting; outsourcing and shipping our good jobs
overseas; hiding and sheltering trillions of dollars created by the
hard work of Americans in overseas tax-havens; the list of grievences
goes on and on and on...

RETURN POWER TO WHERE IT CAME FROM: THE PEOPLE!

As a result of tireless effort by Occupy Wall Street, countless
frustrated Americans, resonating with the exuberant spirit of Occupy
Wall Street, are organizing and planning Occupations in cities and
towns across the land.

Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, Billings (MT),
San Francisco, San Diego, Portland (ME), Portland (OR), Santa Fe,
Oklahoma City and Salt Lake City are only a few of the places where
protests and civil disobedience in solidariy with Occupy Wall Street
are either taking place currently or are scheduled to begin very soon.

I decided to do my part by attending my local Occupy Phoenix planning meeting.

There I found people like myself: just plain folk dissatisfied with
the way things are, but sincerely desiring to reform this nation into
a country we can take pride in, govern democratically, and free from
rule by corporations and special interest groups.

More than one hundred people met at the Conspire Cafe in Central
Phoenix and got down to business. After introducing ourselves, we
worked up an agenda and detailed the flow of how the meeting would go.
Next item was a reading of a brief essay describing what Occupy Wall
Street is all about. Activists spoke on various important issues. In
time, everyone had a chance to speak to the gathering and tell their
story.

Later, we broke into groups focusing on different aspects of our
October 15, 2011 Occupation of Cesar Chavez Plaza in Downtown Phoenix.
Media, Legal, Health and Food, Outreach and a number of other teams
formed to pool resources and know-how to insure that the Occupation is
a success.

The meeting was fast-paced and a surprising amount was accomplished:
websites popped up, contacts made, ideas discussed and resolutions
agreed upon; old fashioned Democracy in action!

It was an inspiring, hope-filled experience to enjoy the positive
feelings of the birth of a Second American Revolution.

All the ingredients to create real change are in place...

The ACLU provides Guidelines so we can know what our rights are.
Training by experts in Civil Disobedience is made available to
partcipants. Seasoned activists have taken up the cause and gladly
share their experience.

Why is this not on TV?

Occupy Wall Street has been largely ignored by the media. Even though
communication between Journalists and Citizens is at the very heart of
a successful Democracy, Media is controlled by greedy corporations and
special interest groups. Therefore our precious Democracy is made
irrelevant.

The tables are turning!

Occupy Wall Street has snowballed to a critical mass and we teeter on
the brink of realizing a better world - but many just don't care or
scratch their heads in wonder.

Alas, somewhere in this country there must be someone who wants to be
a true agent of change, that one person who can make the critical
difference between triumph and defeat and push this movement over the
tipping point to epic success... Is it YOU?

Consider this to be your "Engraved Invitation" to find a group
"Occupying" a place near you.

Join us in the fight to TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY!!!
