Times Of Rehearsal

By Alan Morrison

28 January, 2009
Countercurrents.org

Someone responded recently to my song and website, “You’re so Naïve” [ see http://www.youre-so-naive.com ], in this manner:

“I think your “You’re so Naïve” website is a waste of space. Let the people enjoy this moment, for God’s sake. Telling them this bullshit isn’t going to change anything about “the powers that be”. There was a palpable joy & energy of hopefulness throughout our Country on Nov 4th, and Jan 20th. Millions of people feeling inspired and joyful. That IS real. And that energy made this world a better place. So your naive song and website can go suck it. Thnx.”

Thank you for your comments. I think that this is worthy of a response. Forgive me if I deconstruct your thoughts somewhat. I believe that it is important to do so for I suspect that they are representative of many.

You say that Obama’s inauguration resulted in “millions of people feeling inspired and joyful” and that it is “real”. You say that the “energy” involved in millions of people feeling inspired and joyful “made this world a better place”. I wonder what evidence you have for that. Seriously. I’m not being facetious. For when I look at that event, I see a great many people experiencing the feel-good factor because the man they supported won the race; but I didn’t see any evidence that the world actually became “a better place”.

Politicians come and go. They have their moment. The inaugurations of presidents and other nabobs is a hollow affair, repeated every few years and generating the same “inspiration”, “joy” and “energy” on each occasion for their supporters (but great disappointment for those who supported their opponents). When a football team wins a match, all the supporters feel “inspired and joyful” ( but the supporters of their opponents don’t). It has been said that “all is fair in love and war”, but it isn’t. One person’s “inspiration and joy” is another person’s disappointment. People can be made to feel inspired and joyful about all sorts of ephemeral events. But that “energy” doesn’t make the world “a better place”.

A few years ago, George W. Bush was re-elected to a second term of office by many of the same people who have recently elected Obama. This was despite the fact that he had even by then been proven to be a liar and war criminal. No doubt all his supporters experienced “a palpable joy & energy of hopefulness” when he got in; but that didn’t make the world a better place. Yet, a few short years later, one finds Bush’s face as a cut-out funny mask in the UK Guardian newspaper. [see“Dubya Souvenir Special”:
image.guardian.co.uk/sys-files/Guardian/documents/2009/01/07
/GeorgeBushsouvenirmask.pdf
]. Now that it’s safe to insult him (i.e. now that the Powers That Be have dispensed with his services) the corrupt, sold-out media which uttered hardly a whimper when his regime was blowing women and children to smithereens in Iraq can now feel free to indulge in its greatest talent — smearing and denigrating. In how many years will Obama's cut-out funny mask grace the front page of an “Obamarama Souvenir Special” in a major newspaper? The “palpable joy and energy of hopefulness” will have turned to cynicism and ridicule once again.

Inspiration and joy are emotions which can be manipulated in people very easily. Hollywood knows that only too well. But politicians know it too and they cynically play on that fact in order to achieve their nefarious ends. Today, it is the easiest thing in the world to make people cry and if you can make them cry then you can do anything with them afterwards. The masters of PR know how to pull us around emotionally. Their job today is so much easier, thanks to a number of significant factors.

One of the greatest signs of a dumbed-down community is when emotions take precedent over reason. It is also the most effective springboard for exploitation by unscrupulous politicians and other publicity-promoting people. Governments love their subjects to be hyper-emotional and sentimental because such people are more easily manipulated. I am not saying that emotions should never play any part in our decision-making. Neither am I promoting rationality at the expense of any emotion whatsoever. It is just that when our emotions lead us into behaving irrationally then we should begin to hear danger signals.

Yet, blind emotionalism, sentimentality and irrationality are what lies behind the huge wave of support for Barack Obama. I’m not speaking here about a mere anti-Bush vote (which accounts for it in part) but about the desire to ride a wave of sentiment in order to grab a feelgood moment for oneself while claiming that it has created a movement of global, world-changing energy.

Where does this way of thinking come from? A number of sources over the past decade have fed into this process.

First, most of the population has now been exposed to many years of mainstream motivational and New Age books which glamorise the idea of “the power of positive thinking” and extol the notion that it is wrong to judge anything negatively or critically. Such books are on the big tables in most large bookshops today and are read in huge numbers by the 30 – 50 age group — especially women. One of the greatest failures in twentieth century hermeneutics has been the claim that when Christ said “Judge not that you be not judged”, he meant that we should never be critical or come to a negative conclusion about anything. The implication is that using one’s brain to make a necessary judgement would not only be disapproved of by Christ but is somehow antisocial and societally harmful. How twisted can we get? If one examines the context of those words at the beginning of Matthew’s gospel, chapter 7, we can see clearly that what was being said is that before we make our judgements we must ensure that we ourselves are not guilty of the very thing about which we are judging. It wasn’t at all a call to abandon any discernment. It was a timely warning against hypocrisy. Yet, so dumbed-down have we become that we enthusiastically shun the ability to discriminate between good and bad and then extol such a deficient attitude as loving and Christlike. This way of thinking has been a social disaster.

Second, I believe that a viewing combination of TV Reality Shows and such programmes as The Oprah Winfrey Show have rendered the population increasingly susceptible to a rampant sentimentality which blots out anything which may be remotely depressing or anxiety-producing and seeks only personal gratification — the “feel-good factor”. [Incidentally, the audience of the “The Oprah Winfrey Show" consists of 8.6 million viewers daily, 75 percent of whom are women. Of these women, more than 50 percent are over 50, 44 percent earn less than $40,000 annually, and 25 percent have no more than a high school education. This means of course that 75% have more than a high-school education, which is even more disturbing!]

If you have ever watched “reality” shows on TV, you will find that most of the participants are extremely immature, childishly competitive, horribly spiteful about each other and guided solely by their emotions, superficial sentiments, vanity and often hysteria. Yet, these shows are a role model for many.

Similarly, in Hollywood films you will see the manner in which banal sentimentality dictates not only the storyline but the almost continuous music score which shapes our emotional responses. Mawkish hype then takes precedent over genuine emotions. Watching many films today is more of a mesmeric experience than a cinematographic one. We have perfected the art of blind emotionalism rather than experienced true emotion. We no longer know how to feel; we only know how to be sentimental.

However, none of this blind emotionalism, sentimentality and irrationality has occurred in a vacuum. The frenzy and ‘religious’ fervour surrounding the campaign and election of Obama is merely the latest blip in a decade-long line of ever more emotionally-manipulative procedures in the population which have deepened its desire for maudlin sentimentality over reason.

Back in 1997, three events took place which heralded an unprecedented expansion of large-scale mind-control. The first was the May 1997 election of “King” Tony Blair to office with his New Labour Party. [We looked at this in our most recent article “Déjà vu” (
http://www.youre-so-naive.com/dejavu.htm ). But just to fill in the necessary points here, I will reiterate briefly]. Some of you may be old enough to remember that when Tony Blair was first elected as Prime Minister of the UK, I wrote a piece to my e-mail list the following day, entitled “Dawn of Darkness”. Here are extracts of what I wrote on that fateful day nearly twelve years ago:

“Amidst all the talk of “A New Day Has Dawned”, I awoke today feeling it was instead a dawn of darkness. A blinkered and presumably bewildered electorate voted for the new breed of "democratic" socialism which has now become a leading trend in the political life of the developed countries.

Tony Blair, Jack Straw and their cabinet colleagues are deceivers who have twisted and turned until they have cultivated a face which will fool the British people into thinking that they are conservatives with a human face. Within the next few years we are going to witness the complete dismantling of the political, moral and spiritual fabric of this land - not to mention its sovereignty. The New Labour Party is not like the Soviet-style socialism of Harold Wilson's era. Instead it has acquired an almost New Age messianic quality.

Actually, in many ways, it matters not a jot which political party comes to power in any of the countries of the Western world. The real power lies with other, secret, groupings which most people know nothing at all about. Neither Tony Blair nor John Major could ever be anything other than puppets who must dance to a tune played by those who have nothing whatsoever to do with the democratic political process in the U.K.

Have you not received the impression that we have been watching a poorly scripted movie acted out before our eyes? Why should the Conservative Party have behaved so suicidally in the last couple of years while New Labour started to be lauded in the media in the most effusive manner? The whole thing has been a set-up. The people of this land have also played their part by walking into the trap in this election. Even the Presidential-style welcome for Blair at Downing Street today was a carefully stage managed event (in which the press fulsomely colluded), with party workers and their children being bussed in by party hacks to wave Union Jacks”.

That was nearly twelve years ago! Does that ring any bells? How quickly we forget these “New Days which keep Dawning”! New Days of Dawning which allegedly result in “millions of people feeling inspired and joyful” and supposedly make this world “a better place”. There is no need to expand on that here other than to reiterate Tony Blair’s election as a peak point on a continuum which involves an emotional high for the population — mind-control on a mass basis — false relief to keep people believing in an impossible dream and to feed on their sentimentality.

The second 1997 event was the death of Lady Diana Spencer in August. Here are some extracts of what I wrote to my e-mail list five days after that tragedy occurred:

“I am in no doubt that we are dealing with an assassination — how, and by whom I am not sure, but it could well have involved the chauffeur. However, all conspiracy theories aside, the entire episode has involved a very grave alteration of the national consciousness in the UK. We could also speak about the quasi-religious superstitions which have been conjured up among the crowds of so-called mourners — not to mention the vacuous trance-like response of so many normally rational people in the queues to sign the ‘condolence’ books. One said: “I don't know why I'm here but I just had to come”. We have even already had reports that people have been having visions of Diana. Trance, altered states of consciousness, hysteria. I believe that this event will soon be seen to have been of great occult significance (especially when coupled with the death of that other puppet of the New World Order, Mother Teresa).”

Something definitely moved a giant notch in human consciousness during, and as a result of, that event. The ability for millions of people not only to give themselves over to hypnotically-irrational behaviour and catharsis but also to crave it. [Incidentally, nearly 12 years later I still think that the chauffeur was at the centre of her death and I’m not alone. See http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/21290/

].

The third significant event of 1997 (within a few days of that of Lady Diana) was the death of Mother Teresa — one of the biggest frauds in recent history. Her so-called charity was among the richest in the world yet the inmates in her hostels lived in abject poverty and were even mistreated and abused. [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30XdrOLT7J4 ]. She was the darling of dictators and corrupt leaders everywhere, of whom she spoke highly and many of whom gave her money. But she was a kind of icon of charity of the New World Order to make them look as though they cared and to lend their jamborees respectability (in much the same way that Billy Graham was a religious courtier of corrupt politicians). She was safe for them because she posed no threat. It was as if the Powers That Be were saying: “She is a perfect example of how we want do-gooders to be. You can rabbit on about giving and good works all you like, so long as you never criticise us, always patronise us and give a good report about us to the people”. Her death gave leaders everywhere the opportunity to play on the emotions of the people as well as to buy respectability. But it was really an event of the utmost banality and bathos.

The next significant event in this continuum was the death of Pope John Paul II in April 2005. This is extracted from what I wrote at the time:

“Have you wondered why all this is happening at this particular time? Although the events surrounding the death of the pope utilise the same mind-control techniques as the hoo-hah surrounding the death of Lady Diana, the present scenario is one notch up from that. You will find that these staged global mind-control jamborees (usually consisting of the hyped-up deaths of major figures and/or horrific tragedies involving vast numbers of deaths) will increase in intensity as their goal draws near.

Now you may ask "Why? What's the purpose? What function could they serve?" Good questions. Let’s take the death of the pope as a classic example of mind-control. The reasons behind the hype surrounding the death of the pope are as follows:

1) It promotes the cult of Catholicism as a valid spiritual pathway...
2) It validates the idea of domination by an absolute ruler...
3) It draws the world further into a transnational, uncritical oneness...
4) It makes it possible for people to revere a person for nothing...

[AM: Each of the above points was developed in the original]. People in the crowds at Rome this week have been crying and saying that they feel they have lost a father and that they wanted to pay their respects to a great man. But he has not really ever done anything except to preside over a false religion - a cult, in fact - promoting the worship of Mary while wandering about the world waving his arms in robes. Such obeisance to a hollow man is a necessary element at this point in history”.

That is what I wrote back then, after the death of the Pope. When popes are claimed to be great spiritual leaders; when presidents are claimed to be godly Christians; when Prime Ministers are claimed to be “born again” evangelicals (as the UK media claimed about Tony Blair when he came to office eight years ago), it prepares the way for the revering and worship of the ultimate dictator who will preside over a one-world government in the future.

Loving and revering the corrupt-religionist pope — with all the emotional hype which goes with it — was like loving and revering the playboy-romancing “Sloane-ranger” Lady Diana [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sloane_Ranger ], or phoney-charity-building Mother Teresa or, today, the preferred President of the ‘Powers That Be’, Barack Obama. These are the people who are presented to us as heroes worthy of our reverence, sentimentality and tears, yet who have very little genuine substance whatsoever. This is why I said above, in relation to the Pope, that “obeisance to a hollow man is a necessary element at this point in history”. Hollow people are the “useful idiots” of the Powers That Be. If we so easily revere hollow people, not only does it dumb us down but it means that we can be much more easily controlled by them and thus by the Powers That Be.

The next significant event in this continuum of emotional manipulation and mass mind-control was the false-flag operation which took place in the USA on September 11th 2001. This shook the world so much that the US was able to start two wars of a genocidal nature with barely a whimper at the time. That is the purpose of these events: To get the whole world behind them into a phoney oneness out of which the Powers That Be can do whatever they want. The emotionally-vulnerable (but essentially frightened and dependent) population will lend their support to anything proposed by them in the aftermath of these events.

The most recent significant event in this continuum of emotional manipulation and mass mind-control was the election and inauguration of Barack Obama. Mind-control on a mass level. That is what you have been witnessing in recent weeks. It is but one more preparation for the future time when a one-world government under a world leader will take the stage amidst much deception, fear and emotional manipulation.

What is really interesting is that — true to form and riding on the back of Obama’s election and inauguration — Doctor Death himself, Henry Kissinger, has just written an opinion piece which was published in the UK Independent newspaper on January 20th 2009, stating:

“Not since the inauguration of president John F. Kennedy half a century ago has a new administration come into office with such a reservoir of expectations. It is unprecedented that all the principal actors on the world stage are avowing their desire to undertake the transformations imposed on them by the world crisis in collaboration with the United States. The extraordinary impact of the President-elect on the imagination of humanity is an important element in shaping a new world order”. [ Emphasis added, article link at

]

Precisely. I couldn’t have put it any better myself. This “New World Order” which is being foisted upon us is nothing less than a global totalitarian government which will make the government in Orwell’s “1984” seem like your favourite great-aunty. Make no mistake, it IS being foisted on us, as can be seen in the implied threat from Kissinger in that article that “the only alternative to a new international order is international chaos” (or, as the Independent paraphrases it in its sub-headline: “Kissinger: The world must forge a new order or retreat to chaos”.). It is not for nothing that Kissinger is known as “Doctor Death”. That the Independent should be reproducing these deceptive ideas by a shadow government player and an international war criminal of the highest order shows how low that paper has sunk.

If the much-vaunted New World Order was one which involved genuinely noble statesmen, and had — as its aims — international peace and justice based on mutuality and even, dare we say it, on love, then we could support it wholeheartedly. But that is not what people like George Bush Sr. [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7a9Syi12RJo ], Henry Kissinger, Tony Blair [http://www.newswithviews.com/baldwin/baldwin487.htm ] or Gordon Brown
[http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-world/new-
world-order-after-crisis-brown-20090126-7q35.htm
l ] mean when they use the phrase “New World Order”. The New World Order envisaged by these people — although positioning itself as the only alternative to chaos — is in reality based on a totalitarian world government, devastating repression of all forms of dissidence, exploitation of the already underprivileged and the reaping of even greater financial harvests for the major corporations of the world. (If you don’t believe that these forces are already incipient, just try and publicly expose what really lies behind 9/11 and the genocides in Iraq and Gaza and then see what happens to you! Iraq and Gaza are living examples as to how the New World Order handles those who will not toe the line. They will be bombed back to the Stone Age, as was threatened to Pakistan, http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/
world/middle_east/article647188.ece
). If only we had long memories and/or adventurous minds; then we would remember or discover that in his departing speech in 1961, former US President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned that “we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex” and he spoke of “the danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite”. [ http://avalon.law.yale.edu/20th_century/eisenhower001.asp ]. In fact, those two elements perfectly describe the twin-foundations of the New World Order which uses them in order to gain power and crush all opposition.

Kissinger’s article heralds the fact that the New World Order of the Powers That Be (of which he is a key player) extol the election of Barack Obama as the latest move in their plan to install their fraudulent New World Order. “The extraordinary impact of the President-elect on the imagination of humanity is an important element in shaping a new world order”. However, Barack Obama has only impacted the imagination of those who measure truth by sentimentality rather than reason. The presidency of Barack Obama is going to yield far worse fallout than that of George W. Bush. Bush was the bad cop warming you up for your cooperation with the “good” cop Obama. When the new president says “Jump!”, the mass of the world will jump. But, most chilling of all, when he says: “Let us wage war!”, the mass of the world will be right behind him, for he can do no wrong. Even the peace movements will be silent. The mind-control, manipulation and mass hypnosis which the Obama camp exercised during his election campaign and inauguration was merely a trial run for the mind-control, manipulation and mass hypnosis which it will exercise during his administration. He has the whole world eating out of his hand.

But let me tell you this: If Obama is projected as a Rescuing Redeemer who everyone would follow to the ends of the earth, that is nothing to how much of a Syrupy-Sweet Saviour the leader of the future one-world government will initially seem to the masses when that debacle finally comes to pass. But it will be yet another chimera with which to mesmerise us — one for which we will have been well-prepared.

So I conclude by saying that the “palpable joy & energy of hopefulness” throughout the United States of America on Nov 4th and Jan 20th, with “millions of people feeling inspired and joyful” was one of the greatest deceptions of recent decades — every bit as deceptive as a religious cult, yet even more treacherous. Such sentiment was never “real” but manufactured. The “energy” involved in that deception could not possibly have “made this world a better place”. On the contrary, it took the history of global delusion to its highest level yet.

These are times of rehearsal for the future. I’ve seen the script. I walked out of the theatre a long time ago. Will you?
