Dancing Cows And Scared Pigs

By Saumya Mohanty

03 January, 2015

It was last day of the Melbourne Cricket test and few of my friends were debating about the collapse of Indian batting again and losing out the third test in a row to the Aussies. The great relief came when India drew the test followed by a sad note of Dhoni exiting test cricket for his own good. The most successful test captain of India hanged his boots gracefully. Then the debate continued about his balance sheet as a test captain especially with India’s dismal record in test matches in the recent past. Debating on a topic was not new for us and every day in our small WhatsApp group is a debate day.

This reminded me that the year 2014 also had been quite a debating year for many of us. We entered the year with the debate whether it will be a rightist government or centrist supported by leftist. Whether Indians want governance or only assurance, whether corruption is the culprit or communalism. The stock market was behaving as if it was part of a formula one race and the climb was unstoppable perpendicular northward. The promises made by the aspiring prime minister were touching Everest peak. People answered positively for the promises of development and inclusiveness. ‘India first’ was the punch line and the new man crowned to lead India.

The cows were dancing on the street as the protectors of cow slaughtering became king and the poor pig was scared of getting slaughtered every hour. The chickens and goats are still looking askance with no protectors in the treasury bench and opposition for them.

The victory of the right wing party does not stop the speech therapy of the prime minister for months and the speeches jumped beyond boundaries of Indian Territory .The fanatic followers of the best orator in the arena were taking pride of their leader speaking in different parks and parliaments of foreign countries. The poor Indians who voted for development and betterment of their life were told to wait as it is too early to recover from the past mess. By the time the prime minister had traveled half of the world showing his oratory skill, the finance minister made it clear that the “black money” has entered an air pocket somewhere up mid sky while traveling from the European countries to India . The Chinese intrusion in Ladakh while China supreme was sharing Gujarati food with the prime minister and the continuous attacks by Pakistan army showed the result of an ineffective foreign policy and the false chest thumping of the government. The honeymoon period ended with a series of speeches and foreign visits and no real act.

The inclusion and narration of plastic surgery of Ganesha (narrated by our honorable prime minister in one of the doctors forum http://www.newsweek.com/modi-puts-hindu-myths-center-india-politics-281002) and the story of pushpaka vimana used by Rama in ancient age was good foot forward during the year in education field which ensured that we can be a laughing stock in international scene. The noble idea of online debate competition on the Christmas day was the innovative find of the HRD minister who did not want to be left behind in the saffron race.

Winter session of parliament remained warm because of the inharmonious tune chanted by spokespersons of the government which were quite different from the chants of the sadhvis , and yogis. The act of narrating all people do not believe in Ram as “ haramzadon” to the act of gharwapsi, love zihad did make a good case for the false proclaim of Inclusiveness and India first pretend . Surprisingly the ever vocal prime minister forced to be kept kept quiet in the parliament making it clear that he was in love with foreign parks ,parliaments and of course with the acts of the fellow sanghis. Development became the new synonymous word for “joke” in 2014 . As rightly narrated by the alien in the recent movie PK it does not look nice if a crow wears a tie (kawa ko tie pehna nese kya thik lagega) , similarly development was never expected from the sanghis .

The movie had grossed a whopping 469 crores by the end of the year with some good punchline messages alas the saffron monkeys realized too late that the movie needs to be disrupted so that we can continue to be monkeys without ties. The sensex took a roller coaster ride during the first six months and the swachha Bharat campaign saw celebrities with brooms. The hearts were never meant to be cleaner ( swachha) . Common people did struggle with their basic needs and still struggling.

The only reason for the year to be claimed as a land mark year is India’s successful “mangalyaan” mission and the real Bharat Ratnas are the scientists who made India proud and demonstrated to the world the true meaning of “ India first”.

With the punchlines of government dwindling common man aspiring for a happy year ahead with new punchline “ Merry Diwali Subh Idd Chistmas mubbarak”
