The ISIS Crisis And The Death Of Arif Majeed From Kalyan

By Feroze Mithiborwala

Why was the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) covering up their tracks?

The death of Arif Majeed, as well as the fact that there are at least another 4 to anywhere upto 28 Indian Muslim youth from Kalyan itself, is great cause of dismay & worry for the Indian Muslim community & for the nation itself.

The death of Arif should now awaken the community from its sense of self-denial, where it is now clear that a miniscule section of the Muslim youth are being drawn towards the extremist Jehadist fanatical ideology of the ISIS-Islamic State.

The community needs to honestly identify those elements & a particular strain of the Salafist-Ahl-i-Hadees ideolgy that is driving these youth towards extremism. This strain of Islam is extremely supremacist, exclusivist, violent & far from removed from the compassionate & egalitarian beliefs of Islam.

Also the role of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) is extremely worrisome & suspect. Our reports from local sources were very clear that the youth had gone to Iraq to join the Jehad being waged by ISIS. Yet the NIA chose to give a clean chit to those very boys, saying that they were safe in Raqqa (Syria) & working in an Oil Refinery.

I was both flummoxed & bewildered. For more than two years, Raqqa has been under ISIS control & they also run the refinery, from where the production is sold across the border to Turkey & onwards to Europe. Clearly the youth were in ISIS controlled territory & working for the ISIS itself. Yet the NIA chose to spin another narrative, after having earlier stated that the youth have clearly gone to Iraq to wage Jehad.

So what is the agenda of the NIA? This is what we are truly worried about.

The ISIS is clearly a massive trans-national covert operation being operated by the US-CIA, Saudi-Intel, Israeli-Mossad, British-MI5/6 amongst other Western agencies. The agenda is to create an "Hornets Nest", thereby attracting Jehadists from across the world to wage war & wreck mayhem. Its a major global destabilisation operation to achieve the hegemonic objectives of the Imperial & Zionist powers.

Here we thus observe that the NIA will also create its own branch of the Indian-ISIS where they will entrap gullible Indian Muslim youth, who believe that they are waging an holy war against the kafirs & infidels, as such is the very nature of their exclusivist strain of their Islamic beliefs. This again far removed from an Islam that has witnessed a great multi-culturalism, multi-religious & multi-ethnic states as part of their core egalitarian beliefs.

As Muslims we need to look deep within & introspect as to which of our beliefs is leading the community down the path of extremism & violence. We also need to look at the fact that our sectarian belief systems are so deeply embedded within our psyche, that today, after we call the adherents of other religions as Kafirs & Infidels, now we are saying that to each other, where it is also now even haram to pray in each others Masjids, or to even wish each other with a simple salamaliakum. The situation is so ridiculous that we are busy banishing each other to Hell, thus creating a very Hell on Earth. But then this is the logic of all supremacist puritanical ideologies.

But before the ISIS creates a hell for us in India, we need to take on this challenge and for that we require far more honesty, clarity & courage than hitherto on display.
