Israeli Fire Kills Palestinian Boy

By Ma'an News Agency

Bethlehem - Ma'an - Israeli forces killed a Palestinian teenager in the northern West Bank on Saturday afternoon, medics said.

Medics said Muhammad Qadus, 16, was struck in the heart by a bullet fired by Israeli forces in Iraq Burin, a village south of Nablus, amid violent clashes in the northern West Bank village.

Qadus was transported to a local hospital by private car after Israeli forces held up a Red Crescent ambulance called to the scene, medics said. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, they added.

Another 16-year-old Palestinian boy, identified as Useid Abed An-Nasser Qadus, was seriously injured. Medics said he sustained a bullet to the stomach and was transferred to a hospital for emergency surgery.

An Israeli military spokesman said he was aware that two Palestinians had been injured, one of whom was transported by a Red Crescent ambulance elsewhere. The other injured person left by himself, he said.

The official added that both Palestinians were hurt by riot-control measures rather than live fire.

He said the incident came amid "a violent and illegal riot" near Iraq Burin, during which dozens of rock-hurling Palestinians approached Bracha, an illegal Israeli settlement nearby. A "rock-hurler" was arrested, he added.
