Veterans Day! Long Live Violent Death! WMD!
And Rule By Investment Bankers!

By Jay Janson

Countercurrents.org

Disappointment not to have seen or heard of some flying contingent of brave tough members of Veterans of Peace or a Howard Zinn peace activist brigade tussling with pro-war veterans and military officers, seeking to disrupt the praise of war. American acceptance of horrific implications of what is preached on Veterans Day

One watched the TV coverage of parades and flags bedecked military observations to see if perhaps there were any disturbances, any protesting of this annual honoring of war.

No, none. At least not covered and televised by Network News.

Only war promoting TV interviews of onlookers at parades and ceremonies. "They fought to protect our freedoms" "we owe them a lot." "They make us proud."

No sidewalk viewer canvassed for his or her opinion happened to be one of the hundreds of thousands who demonstrated against the Korean, the Vietnam/Laos/Cambodian, the Iraq, the Afghanistan/Pakistan wars?

No one interviewed on this Veterans Day was originally from the Dominican Republic or Panama who lost relatives veterans invaded their motherlands?

On C-Span,"No one can defeat us," proclaims Vice President Biden at Arlington National Cemetery, as if the very Vietnamese in the "steaming rice paddies of Vietnam" our heroes had fought in earlier referred to just a few sentences before in Biden's speech to had not defeated us.

Oh, well, just another Biden Bush-type slip of the mind. Funny? Not if you can't forget that your Afghanistan sidewalk fruit vendor had some of his relative's children blown into pieces.

After a Pledge Allegiance to the Flag, those gathered at the National Vietnam War Memorial heard the owner of a major basketball team slander the Vietnamese patriots who so bravely fought against overwhelmingly superior high tech military force of hundreds of thousands of invaders, bombing, napalming, machine gunning, and poisoning their land from planes, ships and tanks.
(Here we have an example of patriotic sporting events support for immoral wars.) “We have some on active duty in Afghanistan and Iraq in attendance. Will you please stand up and take a bow.”

The speaker cries out the theme of Veterans Day 2010, “Freedom is not free!” Gee, if only he meant that it wasn’t free for our Vietnamese brothers and sisters. Five to six million perished on the Indochinese peninsula during the Japanese, then French, then American wars of occupation all three invaders lost because the brave determination to fight for their country to be free of foreign domination.

“God bless America!” is the phrase heard in all the ceremonies. Here It made the viewer wonder if the
corollary was “God damn those Vietnamese!”

At a third site in Washington D.C., Lt. Gen. Kicklighter, (Ret.) Chairman of Friends of the World War II Memorial ran us through the terrible things that Hitler’s Nazi Germany did, while visions of Henry Ford, Hitler’s idol, Rockefeller, du Pont General Motors and just about every major U.S. industrialist, banker and corporation, investing in, building Hitler’s war industry up to number one military power while my dad sold apples on the streets of depression in an America out of work.

Long live World War II, the war that made money for the Kennedy and Bush families and America the sole superpower of the world.

Finally, C-Span brought to the Arlington Cemetery Coast Guard World War I Memorial. The war the U.S. investment bankers, eger to get in on the killing (in on money to be made) pressured Wilson to enter this great European war over the colonies of its empires, allowing it to be prolonged. When over, Wilson went along with keeping the nonwhite world under colonial occupation, even okaying Japan’s claim on conquered and occupied Korea.

In a further charming feature on C-Span came a “Happy Veterans Day!” from Lt. Colonel Elizabeth Featherston from the Womens Memorial at Arlington and a younger officer speaking warmly of war time experiences of camaraderie in foreign countries, her two very young children standing playfully alongside dressed in * borborygmus
* gesticulate

* collywobbles
* benison

camouflaged army fatigues.

It has been a telecast filled with gold braided brims of neatly blocked blue caps of full dress military uniforms and rows of colorful ribbons and medals filling most left upper chests. Always bring to mind Commander-in-Chief of the German Air Force, Hermann Göring.

We’ll spare the reader any quotes from the Director of American Legion which concluded coverage of what was perhaps a frightening omen of thing to come for this massively overarmed world. I missed the nostalgic pronouncement from leaders of the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization.

Hours of listening to speeches and never heard one single word of compassion for the suffering of anyone but Americans.

Long live violent death!

Long live military service!

Long live following orders blindly in small countries already made poor from centuries of racist colonial occupation and plunder followed by the present neocolonialist exploitation. terminating designated

Long live the manufacture of WMD for our military's use and sale all over the world in preparation for wars, wars and wars for the accumulation of capital by private investment bankers.

This author will confess disappointment not to have seen or heard of some flying contingent of brave tough members of Veterans of Peace tussling with pro-war veterans and military officers seeking to disrupt the praise of war.

On the other hand, with comments four to one in agreement with my Thursday, November 11, 2010, Veterans for Peace Must Confront Veterans for War Honestly, Educationally on Veterans Day, synopsis:

Peace activists! Turn Veterans Day into "Veterans Mourn Those They Killed Day!' It has been more than six decades since America fought a defensive war. Peace organizations going along with honoring us veterans of previous wars in poor countries after WW II will be seen NOT to be against war in principle, rather only against the current wars we are losing. We are veterans who know we were duped into "serving' in criminal wars

Would like to share a strikingly severe reaction to the hype of Veterans Day:
“I am a member of VFP and those in my Chapter agree with you and go even farther. One member has suggested that the troops be arrested for war crimes as they return home.”

“The finest military the world has ever known” - to the wild cheers of marines that Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Commander in Chief Obama addressed in the southern half of the land of the Korean nation while preaching to them a falsified history of the U.S. invasion of an already unified peninsula, earlier divided by America
