All Is Well. Really!

Give me some sunshine;
give me some rain,
I want to grow up once again.

(From the class of Three Idiots)

Hope soars with these lines. Living in regressive times and still thinking is no mean miracle. Not only are mortals hurtling against one another, but heavenly bodies too.

“In a chaotic situation, if you are big, you get bigger by absorbing the passers-by”, physicist Prof Yashpal wrote in his column in response to a query on the future of Jupiter.

“The comets from the fringe of solar system are attracted to Jupiter’s massive gravitational pull. They damage its surface and also add to its mass”, explained Prof Yashpal.

When one bangs his head against the wall .It is the wall that gets the blood and you the hurt. So the moral of the story is just pass by the wall. This is what Palestinians can do at the peril of their survival. They have to cross the formidable wall in the Gaza strip for work and essentials like food and medical services.

With the Berlin Wall also fell the Soviet empire .The earthlings were left with the only one superpower? Its scientists are working overtime to create devises to colonize the mars and moon .The Jupiter is not on the agenda of the White House. May be it is a classified information stored in CIA memory chips.

Its promise of happiness through greed has made it a big draw for the upwardly mobile youth of poor countries. Like comets from the fringe social systems they melt away in yappy culture. Those who can’t, attack its business, defense and cultural symbols.

In Indian astrological parlance geniality of a person is determined by the position of the Jupiter in his birth chart. It orients the person to intellectual pursuits when in ascendance.

Are you a Jupiter or a comet from the fringe of social systems? If you are the former, you may be Telecom Minister A Raja, under cloud in the 2G Spectrum deals. If you are the latter, you may be Shibu Soren, alias Guruji of Jharkhand, playing trust games in flowing white beard.

One gathers what one has. Rich become richer because they attract wealth. Similarly poor are poor because they attract poverty. Among the proponents of this you-get- what –you- have view are the greatest mystics of the twentieth century. This view resolves all issues of inequity created by systemic violence or bad deeds of the previous birth. It is too simplistic to be convincing even as an evolutionary theory.

Applying this view to social systems, one can deduce if one is happy, more will follow and conversely nothing. Nothing comes out of nothing. There is to be something that causes everything. This something is the cause playing God in Venter’s US lab.

So don’t worry if you are jobless, gasping for breath in front of a health center or in queue to get you ward into a school. Go by the advice of Three Idiots: “ whistle and say, all is well!”
