The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip has claimed the lives of 161 citizens and wounded 1222 others, medical sources said on November 21, 2012, revealed the Palestinian Information Center.

Dr. Ashraf Al-Qudra, the health ministry’s spokesman, said that the latest fatalities included a 14-year-old girl, a child, a teenager, and a number of youths in their twenties.

The PIC reporter in Gaza city said that three members of Asaliya family were killed including a father and his son and daughter.

Man killed by celebratory gunfire in Gaza

A Palestinian man was killed by stray gunfire as crowds hit the streets of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday night to celebrate a ceasefire deal which ended eight days of deadly fighting.

After being stuck at home for days for fear of Israeli airstrikes, tens of thousands of Palestinians crowded into cars and doubled up on motorcycles, waving flags, and some opened fire into the sky as a sign of celebration.

Spokesman of Gaza's health ministry, Ashraf al-Qidra, said a man was killed by gunfire and three others wounded. He appealed to citizens not to shoot into the air.

The Egyptian-brokered ceasefire put an end to Israeli air raids which bombed hundreds of Hamas targets and the firing of more than 2,000 rockets and mortar bombs by Hamas and other factions into Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

In all, at least 170 Palestinians, including more than 30 children and at least 10 women, were killed in the offensive, along with four Israeli civilians and a soldier.

Chomsky: US is involved in the war on Gaza

American thinker Noam Chomsky accused the US administration of supporting Israel in its war on Gaza, adding that Washington turns a blind eye to the crimes committed by the occupation forces in Gaza.

Chomsky told Anatolia News Agency that the Israeli targeting of civilian areas, killing children and women, is "a crime against humanity," adding that the US support for Israel is not new.

Chomsky noted that the United States does not only support the occupation, but it is also involved in its crime by allowing the Israeli crimes against Palestinian civilians with American weapons, as well as the economic and military and diplomatic support provided by the US administration to the Israeli entity.
