There are no breaking news at the moment

The poor women of India who save money in currencies for a rainy day, or from irresponsible husbands have been hit hard by Narendra Modi’s decision to withdraw Rs 1000, and Rs 500 notes from circulation. Here is a video of an old woman who saved some money in the now withdrawn denominations trying to flush out ‘black money’ from her ‘Swiss Bank’ lockers.

Poor rural women who face oppression in family, the older women suppressed by male hegemony and the destitute who carefully hide their savings are hit by the demonetization syndrome. They should be assured by the society and bank officials that their money is not useless and they will get exchange in due course. The society should help them by opening bank accounts and depositing in the bank so that their money us in safe custody. Priority should be given for exchanging their money. Most deaths have been reported belong to senior citizen category. They need mental solace.
